The last time they had a winning season and made the playoffs, I was 4 years old. I literally have no recollection of that having a winning season, let alone make the playoffs. I'm almost cheering for them at this point. Second half of June and they're still over .500. This is actually the first time the Pirates have been .500 or better as late as the second half of June since '99. If I'm a Pirates fan, I'd be very happy right now.

I think I remember that club, the star of the team was some arrogant leftfielder as I recall, Larry or Gary Ponds or something like that. I wonder what ever happened to him?

I just refer to him as "The Bastard Who Double-Pumped From Left Field And Allowed Sid Bream To Score The Winning Run In Game 7 Of The 1992 NLCS And Then Left Town And Called Pirates Fans 'Racists' Because We Dared To Criticize His Demeanor And Wouldn't Put Up With His ****."
If the Pirates finish at .500, you know they're breaking out the champagne.
I wouldn't do that. One of those Pirates needs to step up like Tom Seaver did back in 1969 when the Mets hit .500 for the first time and say it's not good enough.
World Series champions, they'll sweep the Yankees 4 games to 0.
Nonsense, the Yankees will win at least one game.
