Instead of California, or a nearby state?

Delaware has structured its business incorporation laws so that it is the best tax haven in the nation. This was done deliberately to attract companies into legally incorporating in that state regardless of the actual location of the business. 60 % of the Fortune 500 outfits are incorporated under Delaware law, and 50 % of all US publicly traded companies as well.

Obviously the Dodgers took advantage of this and incorporated in Delaware, thus that is where they must declare Chapter 11.

^^Great post.

Just like how Ireland, Bermuda, Monaco and many other countries operate.

Wilmington DE is the FAUX business capital of the US so to speak also home to the minor league Blue Rocks

I'm very familiar with the Blue Rocks. I have a close friend who lives in Wilmington and was a season ticket holder for a number of years. He was always talking about their fortunes and who to look for in the majors in the coming years. I knew all about Johnny Damon long before he played in a ML game as a consequence.
