were a couple of hours from the HRD,

Here are the participants

from the AL

Big Papi
A Gonzalez
J Bautista
R Cano

from the NL

Fielder
Kemp
Holliday
Weeks

the shine wore off of this derby some time ago.

the reason IMO is it's too long, they should shrink this thing to two rounds.

give all participants 10 outs, the top 2 advance, 5 more outs crown a champ. there's no reaason for the 3rd round.
the derby is pushing 3 hours. that's just too long.

I would have preferred to see Hamilton and Howard instead of Weeks and Cano

thoughts?

Jason Starks idea to liven up the derby

2011 Home Run Derby: Why not All-Star sluggers vs. BP legends? - ESPN

But we think there's a better way. And here's our plan:

In this corner: Four ALL-STARS. In the other corner: The one, the only BP LEGENDS -- four of the greatest batting-practice showmen in North America.

And here's the best part: Those legends would be selected by you, the American public.

Now THAT'S a Derby we'd rearrange our schedule for.

How about adding an Old Timer's Home Run Derby? We could have The Steroid Reunion Showdown with Barry Bonds and Sammy Sosa vs Mark McGwire and Manny Ramirez.

great thread

has there been any protests from players or players not showing up/ boycotting this being in AZ with the AZ immigration law?

when the law passed there were some hispanic players that said they'd boycott it b/c it was in AZ but has that died down?

and no I don't want to talk about the law, just wondering if there are any boycotts/ protests from anyone, but mostly the players themselves.

thanks
