not back yet. Several tough series after this week. After Miami and rest of Nats, Yanks and Cardinals follow.

Not sure. They have a bunch of Cards, Yankees, Brewers, on the schedule the rest of September along with series still to come against the Phillies and Bravos, but at least they are beating the teams they are supposed to beat (but hardly easily).

Remember when Walker was an All Star in the first half?? Whatever happened to THAT guy??

The 2021 Mets are almost certainly finished.

Only hope is going at minimum 3-3 vs NYY/Cards, as Braves have rough West Cost stretch left after it. (SF/SD)

I'd absolutely LOVE to hear Rojas' reasoning for deciding to pitch to Bryan de La Cruz, probably the Marlins best hitter with 2 outs and a guy on 3rd over walking him and pitching to Lewin Diaz instead a guy that can barely hit his way out of a wet paper bag (.108/.154.351 this year and .132/.175.276 in his career). What an absolute disaster from Rojas and of course de La Cruz missed a homer by about 15 feet winning the game with a ball off the wall. Any doubts that Rojas should be retained for next season should be put to bed after this disaster class.

Agreed, but while low %, Almora needs to get past his Citi Field injury via wall and leap also. Backup catchers IMO are paid to sacrifice 7 fingers which will all point the wrong way as they hold grandkids 3 decades later. 5th OFs are paid to crash into walls, no matter the injury risk. W/O early career Lagares level D, Almora has NO value in MLB. Period. Our #2 catcher presently knows his role. Our last CFer does not. Pillar would have crashed into fence had he gotten as close as Almora.

Did you spot the "Almora has no brain moment?" He caught the ricochet off the wall and pivoted. I tend to doubt we ever see the Willie Mays play in deep cf ever again, so what was he thinking?

Now you are spot on. You walk La Cruz. Every single time in this spot.

Yup, no doubt. With 2 outs, at least make a jump at it, run for it, try SOMETHING. It's like the QB in the 4th quarter on 4th down of a team that's trailing that gets sacked: throw the damn ball!! Maybe you get an immaculate reception type play and the ball gets completed, but who cares if its gets intercepted, it's 4th down!! In a bases loaded tie game in the 9th, 2 outs for example, iff your the CF'er for example why pull up on a ball hit in front of you?? What difference does that make?? If you dive and the ball gets passed you, oh well at least you made an effort for it! Same thing here, who cares if Almora does miss it which he probably does anyways, at least it showed he made an attempt at it, and it did look like he had a reasonable chance at it, would've been a tough play no doubt, but one he could've made.

Mets handled 9-11 ceremonies well. I like how Alonso got it, truly embraces NYC, is very, very mature. Annoyed by Lindor and Rent a Baez who seemed, mainly disinterested, in the pregame events.

I truly see much of the mature 21 year old David Wright in Alonso's character btw. Both he & Judge are special, on and off the field, and both should wear their present uniforms for life.

Alonso IMO, in a few years, should be the Mets captain.

Btw, after Lindor's classless bird rounding bases on 3rd HR, I sincerely hope Yankees drill him in 2022.

Disgusted at his thug like behavior all year. At least Baez I hope exits stage left, but i do believe in clubhouse cancers, on field cancers, and our SS is IMO one.

Cohen needs a new GM as bent on assessing character as innate skill. There are tons of studs in MLB with fine character-Lindor & Baez not amongst them. Shop wisely, and be judgmental IMO.

He explained his reasoning on the post game that night. Basically he said that Diaz' control was off that night and he was afraid he would walk in a run. But he said the second part more subtly.

Maybe he has been tipping off his pitches for a while now and other opponents were more subtle in conveying the info than the Yankees.
