Mets have a chance to lay the hammer down. Already 5 or 6 games up with another sweep they can bring that to 9 or so. Even though it'll still be the middle of April making up 9 games with a team that so far has been pretty poor will be difficult. And forget the Mets, they are only a half game closer to Atlanta and 3rd than Marlins in last!

I like the Mets start, but the last 2 series they were not as sharp as the first 3.

I would like to see a catcher with pro experience added. We lack what Fish want, but there are adequate others available.

weird series

Pleased to still have a decent lead, and hard to whine about a 13-4 start

In a weird sense it seems like both teams should be disappointment in how this series turned out.

Mets probably should have won 2 of 3 and gained another game but they had an 8th inning meltdown. Nats had a chance for a sweep, but even they themselves should be disappointed at the result as they had their own 8th inning meltdown so instead of sweeping the series and going out to LA & San Francisco 3 back and feeling good about themselves again, they "only" win 2 of 3, go out to LA & San Francisco 5 back and are scheduled to face Kershaw on Friday night. Luckily Kershaw has been incredibly mediocre so far this year, and in years past the Nats had been able to string hits together against him, but really not a pitcher you want to face.

Hanging onto first, but capable of playing better than last 2 weeks.

Both Jason Vargas and Matt Harvey pitched bad in the 0-11 loss to the Atlanta Braves.

Harvey reached his ceiling with the New York Mets and showed no signs of trending upward. I wonder where he will end up.

I do not expect Vargas to finish the 2018 season with the Mets. Vargas either will be traded or will be designated for assignment and released.
