Trevor Bauer Salary $28 million plus $10 million signing bonus, 1.9 WAR so far.

Taijuan Walker Salary 2021 $10 million, 1.5 WAR so far.

WAR Trend, Bauer +1 annualized, at an extra cost of $28 million including bonus in 2021.

I doubt we have such a solid bench with Bauer, as it would not be affordable.

Bad Met weekend, but reinforcements on way. McNeil Monday, Conforto by weekend. Lucchesi hurts, but there is a minors starter they considered for Peterson when he slumped, who I suspect gets a callup.

I wish they would do an opener in 7 inning games, followed by few innings of Lugo one game, Reid-Foley another.

Still like our position, plus serviceable starters will start getting traded from teams far out of it..cheap.as in salary dump.

On the great side, the 20-7 home record Mets have 54 home games left, 6 more than the Phils, 13 more than the Braves, 12 more than the Nationals.

If we assume they maintain at least a 15% gap home vs road, with home at .650, the gap vs Phils is worth +1 in the standings, vs Braves and Nats close to +2 in the standings.

Hard not to like a 4 game lead, playing so few home games, so many with most of starting 8 out, and with 2 big pieces, McNeil & Conforto back soon, plus with Davis available as a trade chip with Villar/Drury doing so well..a chip we did not know we had a few months ago.

Hanging in there. +4 on Nats. +5 Braves & Phils.

Most of lineup back (McNeil & Conforto this week, latter looks great).

Rooting for Front Office to add 5th starter using Davis as trade piece, as the Villar/Guillorme combo at 3rd I prefer.

Our D is very solid in 2021, we already have one weak piece in Dom Smith. I do not want 2 adding Davis in field.

Still 12 tough games next, many in division, but immediately after that 7 with Pirates, 3 with Reds.

Despite our offense being mainly anemic, I like our position as of now.

I also would hope Davis becomes trade bait, as having 3rd base be solid defensively has been of great value in 2021.

You must be beyond thrilled Bauer passed on the Mets huh Bob??

He could have a sub 0.30 ERA, with over 20 strikeouts per 9 innings and he wouldn't have been worth the trouble off the field!

Clearly the Metropolitans need more depth. With David Peterson going out for 8 weeks, maybe they should mix things up a bit and have Edwin Diaz pitch the first few innings to give their usual staters more rest. The need to sign more pitchers, either relief or starting.

Quite thrilled. Have no idea how he got the deal he did. 12.97 innings pitched, just 2 unusually good years. Should have been IMO 20% below DeGrom in AAV, 15% below Cole.

Somehow made the Bauer sweepstakes like the LeBron sweepstakes, and now this mess.

We have the pickup of the year IMO in Walker.

DeGrom's ERA up to 1.08.

Alarmed. (LOL)
