Glad you got to see a win. I have to apologize for the previous two games' results, but these guys have family back in Houston, so obviously, a lot had been on their minds. But you got to see what this team is really capable of doing against a good team. When they're on their game, they're one of the most exciting teams in the game to watch.

And they got Cameron Maybin from the Angels today (tied with Altuve for the AL lead in stolen bases). They may also be trying to get Justin Verlander from the Tigers. Stay tuned on that one; only a few hours to go before the window closes on playoff rosters.

I've always liked Altuve because he's my height 5'6" and still he has power as well as hits for average. He had several outstanding plays today.

Sadly, only 3,300 showed up for the game. $10 tickets and right behind homeplate was a bargain. Enjoyable time. Both teams play in beautiful stadiums at their homes, so I wonder what they were thinking about hideous looking Tropicana Field. We had one player hit the "B-ring" in the ceiling - doesn't happen often, but it caused some confusion whether the ball was in play, a HR, or a do-over.....it was in play and a double.

So, now, the Astros have September and Justin Verlander. It's going to get real interesting in Houston in the days ahead....

Great start to September! Astros sweep a home double-header against their former expansion cousins, the Mets. They have an afternoon game tomorrow at MMP before heading to Seattle.

And, by the way, I've noticed a number of people on other threads saying that Houston is "a surprise team". They are not a surprise this year; many folks expected them to contend real well this season and have, thus, delivered.

Astros' magic number is now 12. Keuchel had an absolute gem tonight.

Verlander made a successful debut Tuesday night in Seattle.

Astros now head to Oakland riding a seven-game winning streak.

Well, whatever that was is over now. Verlander to the rescue in L.A., and we won! Now, it's time for more pitching and, hopefully, a lot more offense.

Magic number, at this writing, is 5.
