I know it could be funny (not meant to be though), but really? Even though they're offensive to me, at least the Redskins, Blackhawks and Fighting Sioux logos are respectable, comparatively speaking.
MLB should at least force them to change the logo, and better yet, the name.

Well, they could be the Cleveland Spiders, and finish the season with a record of 20-134, lose over 100 games on the road, and play to an average crown of 145.

The Cleveland Indians have been a fixture in the American League for over 100 years, and I can't see any evidence that they have done any harrn as a consequence of their nickname or their logo.

The Chicago Blackhawks claim they are not named after an Indian, but after the 86th "Black Hawk" Infantry Batallion in WWI, so they are off the hook.

All the Cleveland baseball team has to do is claim they are named after Pancho Villa's Motorcycle.

That's hardly fair. You know as well as I do that very few posters here have heard of the Spiders. (But it would make an interesting "new" name for the team. Imagine the jerseys!)

Nah, I like the name and Chief Wahoo, the only thing I'd change is the front office.

The team was named after the division, which was named after Black Hawk, a Sauk Indian warrior and leader. Hence the Chicago Blackhawks logo... Not sure why naming after a military division, named after a Native American gets them off the hook in this debate. Naming after a Native American once removed makes it ok?

They did that in the early 1980s, too ... *sigh*
