As a Met fan, I can sympathize with the 2021 Nats season. Might as well laugh. Reading about Scherzer thought of:

Not sure whether Sam or Woody was the biggest moron here!

Default 38-38

They had a nice run against bad to middling to injured teams to get back to 3 games behind the Mets in the division and to second. Their next 5 series and 16 games are against the Rays, Dodgers, Padres and Giants. I'll settle for 7-9 through those 16. That will take us through July 18, if they can't do better then 7-9 (which would still be a losing record anyways) then its time to sell, sell, sell!

Why? I am a Met fan, not sold we can hold Nats off yet. I do not take Phils seriously as they stink fundamentally. Atlanta is streaky, but crushed by pitching injuries.

It is a streaky year. Mets after very touch stretch have 7 straight vs Pirates.

Not saying you can repeat 2019, just saying this division has no SD or LA. I expect both to get by SF by year end.(Although Bauer criminal charges are huge LA problem).

I also think if Mets are dumb enough to let Conforto or Stroman go, Nats likely sign one, minimum. UGH!

I've said it before, but the team this year has a less than 0% chance to beat the Padres or Dodgers in a series, probably the Giants too, and would get smoked by the Brewers with their pitching. Unlike 2019 where at least there was a path to the the Series, 2021 doesn't offer that: the starting rotation isn't as good, and the offense is just way too streaky. I'd settle for not trading anyone, and keeping the roster as is, but no way should be adding anyone, unless that someone they add has a guaranteed contract beyond this coming season. Next 15 games will be key to that part.

Well you avoid Bauer. Even in these insane times, this is off the charts. Delighted Mets did not get him. He can win a Cy Young and still not be worth the trouble.

I do not see Mets or Nats going big in trade deals. As either buyers or sellers. I do not see the East off limits to either the next few years, as it appears it will be a 4 teams right around .500 division.

Possibly all 5. Marlins run differential is right up there.

3-4 in first 7 (2-0 Rays, 0-4 LA, 1-0 SD).

Correction 3-6, I think.

2-0 vs Rays

0-4 vs LA

1-2 vs SD

No. It was actually 4-5 after Wednesday's game and now 4-6:

2-0 vs. Tampa

0-4 vs. Dodgers

2-2 @ Padres.

Speaking of the game last night: I'm not sure what happened to Max out there in the 4th inning, but I think something clearly bothered/was bothering him. To go from that dominant to giving up the grand slam to a reliever playing his second career game was something else to see. Was a good game though, but too bad close only counts in grenades and horseshoes and not in baseball and that was a killer game to lose. Luckily it wasn't the Sunday game and have that fester all week, and they get to jump right back on the horse by the Bay tomorrow and hopefully win this series!
