It's from Bleacher Report......not worth reading and pgtitans does a excellent job debunking why Strasburg wouldn't of matter. I'm still looking forward to him returning next season.

Perhaps you should vet your witnesses a bit before calling them to the stand.
Kerry Wood? Mark Prior? Those are examples of pushing young pitchers too much.

What about Atlanta and how they treated Medlen? They could have shut him down for a period of time, but instead they put him in the bullpen and had him pitch in the minors.

It's no clear answer, but it has been assumed that this is the safest route to go, and proven to work. Would you want them to treat him like Wood or Prior?

You have presented your own speculation, and the speculation of others. Nowhere have I seen anything presented by you which I would take for "proof."

Proof would require an organized study where cases of pitchers being shut down and not restarted the same season were compared to cases of pitchers who resumed pitching after a shutdown period. A serial pattern of the former going on to healthy careers while the latter suffered from frequent or prolonged injuries, would have to emerge to prove the point you are advancing.

In the absence of such a study, you, and the rest of us, are left guessing.

Maybe. But that has nothing to do with shutting a pitcher down and restarting him

There is a huge gap between 'assumed' and 'proof'. You haven't come anywhere near to bridging that gap

Okay I admit proof was a bad choice of words, but I have heard many people talk about this over the years. It is pretty much a custom practice that many take on.

Have you heard of the logical fallacy known as Appeal to Tradition? Just because something is the way it has always been done is no reason to think that it is the way that something should be done that way.

Well at the same time, who would be willing to take that risk? If a guy is that important, I can't imagine a team risking more injury. Maybe somebody will take that risk, but honestly there will always be someone unhappy over that type of situation.

Ted Lerner, the Nationals owner, is a multi-billionaire. Apparently he is more concerned with becoming wealthier than with fielding a championship team.

Based on what?

The Nationals gave Jayson Werth $126 million.
They made huge offers for Teixeira and Prince Fielder
They signed Gio Gonzalez long term
They signed Ryan Zimmerman long term

What good players from the Nats have moved onto other teams in recent years because the Nats didn't pay them?

Basically, what the hell are you talking about?
