For baseball's one-hit wonders, the magic can last a lifetime - latimes.com

Excellent LA Times article about baseball players who only made it to the big leagues for a very brief amount of time (1 at bat or 1 inning pitched)

Reminds me of Francisco Cabrera of the Atlanta Braves in 1991. Drove in Sid Bream from second who beat out a throw home from Barry Bonds (Pittsburgh) to send ATL to the World Series. The day Sid slid. We never heard of Cabrera before that infamous blooper to left and never saw him again on the field.

Francisco Cabrera played 196 games in the major leagues. Including 82 after 1991.

You are so right...I looked it up after my post. Also, the year was 1992 not 91. The Braves were evolving into a very good ball club and if we missed the game on TBS our only other source was USA Today. Cabrera didn't stand out and I believe those were 82 appearances after 1991, not starting positions.

Nonetheless, both Cabrera and Bream show up at Turner Field at special events from time to time to this day.
