Tough loss to take with Sanchez giving up the 3 run homer because the bullpen has been so good. That was a great AB between Miller & Tulowitski there in the 9th. I was driving back from Boston listening to Jerry & Joe on Blue Jays radio so probably wasn't as exciting as seeing it on TV or in person, but that was an October battle. Unfortunately, Tulo lost it. Onto start a new winning streak!

Yeah, it was a very good game. In tough again today against Tanaka. At least I don't think we'll see Miller pitch today. He's thrown around 40 pitches the last two games.

Yankees 1 @ Jays 3

After getting Tanaka-d in the 2nd game of the series, the Jays avoided a sweep with a strong pitching performance by Drew Hutchison and a 2-run homer by Jose Bautista.

After an off day today, Jays will play 2 in Philly.

Jays 8 @ Phillies 5

A pair of home runs by Josh Donaldson and one from Edwin Encarnacion led the Jays over the Phils. Starter R.A. Dickey struggled, leaving in the 5th with the Jays down 5-1. That also ended Toronto's consecutive game streak of starters giving up fewer than 3 earned runs at 20.

Donaldson delivered 4 RBIs, giving him 91 and the MLB lead in that category. The chants of MVP are growing louder by the game, deservedly.

Jays 4 @ Phils 7

Adam Morgan went 7 strong for Philly who also got dingers from Altherr, Francoeur and Blanco.

Mark Buehrle didn't have his A game and left after 4 innings, his shortest stint as a Jay.

Another off day today, then on to Anaheim for 3.

Jays 9 @ Angels 2.

I was going back and forth between this game & the Cards Padres game so I'll let Troutdude do a better recap in the morning. Jays set the tone in the first when they sent 9 men to the plate, scored 3 runs on only 1 hit (plus an error). Made Angels pitcher Hector Santiago walk 4 guys in the inning. Even though he struck out 2 with the 4 walks he had to throw 48 pitches to record 3 outs. With Price on the hill for the Jays they went into cruise control from there to get to within a half game of the Yankees (7-3 losers to Cleveland, the 4th time in 5 games they've lost to the Indians this year) and more importantly 4 games up on the Angels for Wildcard slot #1.

Marco Estrade for the Jays vs. rookie Andrew Heaney for the Angels tomorrow night with the game time scheduled for 9:05.

That worked.

I'll just add that Smoak hit a home run and Ben Revere picked up 4 hits.

Jays 15 @ Angels 3.

4.5 games in front of the Rangers for Wildcard slot #1, 5 up on the Angels for #2 spot, of course they are gunning for the Yankees and the division, not the coin flip wildcard game, but unless something catastrophic happens from here on out they should be in the playoffs. For the second straight night they tattoo'd the Angels starting pitcher, knocking Heaney out in the 4th inning like they did Santiago the night before. Everyone (well every starter) except Tulowitski, & Pennington had at least 1 hit, and every starter sans Pennington scored at least 1 run. Donaldson went 4-6 with 6 RBI's, 3 runs scored and his 34th home run of the year. The 6 RBI's put him over 100 for the season.

Jays will shoot for the road sweep Sunday afternoon. Jays send R.A. Dickey to the mound, opposed by Garrett Richards of the Angels, game time slated for 3:35 PM. Unlike the first 2 Angels starters who were lefties and got clobbered, Richards is right-handed, so if there's a pitcher that can at least contain them it should be Richards. Both teams have Monday off: Jays will have their 3rd off day in the last week before heading to Arlington, Texas to take on the Rangers for 3 game beginning on Tuesday, Angels will also be hitting the road this week as they'll begin a 9 game road trip starting with 3 in Detroit on Tuesday night. They'll also make a stop in Cleveland next weekend before ending in Oakland.

Jays 12 @ Angels 5.

After scoring an EE sac fly in the first inning to get in flight early once again, the Angels batted around in the first inning sending 10 men to the plate scoring 5 runs, and it looked like it might be a short night for Dickey. He kept the Angels in check from there, only allowing those 5 runs and 11 hits through 6 innings, and after that 5 run first he allowed 0 runs and only 5 hits the next 5 innings. Once again, an Angels starter was the one with the short night (or in this case afternoon) as Garrett Richards was rocked for 9 runs (7 earned) and 10 hits over 5 innings. Luckily the Angels have Monday off because their starters didn't go deep at all this year and left the bullpen to pick up most of the work these 3 games this weekend. Jays ended up scoring the games final 11 runs, and of the starters who played the whole game (Thole got subbed for Navarro when Dickey got taken out), only Smoak failed to record at least 1 base hit. Brett Cecil, Aaron Sanchez, and Roberto Osuna each threw 1 inning in relief of Dickey and allowed 0 runs with only 1 hit, 0 walks, and 4 strikeouts, with Osuna striking out the side in the 9th. With another Yankees loss to Cleveland, the Jays now move into first place by themselves a half game up on the Yankees, still 4.5 up on Texas in the wildcard and now a full 6 games up on the Angels for wildcard spot #2, while the Yankees lead the Wildcard 4 up on Texas, and 5.5 up on the Angels for Wildcard spot #2. With the Angels now 5.5 back of the Astros in the West, they are fading fast.

Jays off on Monday before starting a 3 game series in Texas against the Rangers. Mark Buehrle takes the ball for the Jays and he'll be opposed by Derek Holland for the Rangers. Game time slated for 8:05 PM.

Jays 6 @ Rangers 5.

Each team hit a couple home runs early on, but the real action happened in the 9th. Jays down 1, got the tying run off a Tulowitski single with 2 outs and 2 strikes in the 9th. Next batter was Donaldson, and he hit one to Adrian Beltre at 3rd who overthrew first for an error which allowed Revere to score what turned out to be the game winning run. Osuna worked around a 1 out single to Shin Soo Choo getting Prince Fielder to fly out to left and Beltre to strike out to end the game. Back in first alone after the Astros clobbered the Yankees 15-1. Troutdude can fill in anything else that I may have missed.

Wednesday's pitching matchup is David Price for the Jays vs. Colby Lewis for the Rangers. Game time slated for 8:05 PM.
