Lost 2 of 3 in Cleveland, and than lost 2 of 3 in Minnesota, but rookie right-hander Jorge Lopez, who Dayton Moore acquired from the Brewers in the Moostakas deal along with Brett Phillips, was brilliant in the Saturday win at the Twins as he took a perfect game into the 9th inning before faltering and allowing a walk and a hit, but he is making a strong case to get a spot in the Royals rotation for the 2019 season. Last* homestand of the 2018 season is upon us as they play the White Sox for the final time in 2018 starting on Monday, and than the Twins for the final time in 2018 over the weekend for a 4 game set which begins on Thursday.
*And technically, the last 4 games of the year are at home against Cleveland, but since that's a stand alone series as the Royals are on the road to begin the week, I am not counting that as a home stand.

Default 52-97

5-2 homestand winning 2 of 3 against the White Sox and winning 3/4 against the Twins. The #1 draft pick is pretty much all but over as the Orioles lead that by about 10 games with 2 weeks to play, so let's hope they continue to play well. Final road trip of the season starts with 3 in Pittsburgh on Monday, and than will continue with 4 games in Detroit over the weekend beginning on Thursday.

Default 54-102

Lost 3, 1 run games in Pittsburgh including 2 walk offs, before rebounding to split 4 games in Detroit. The last week of the season is upon us, the final 2 road games of the season in Cincinnati on Tuesday, followed by the 4 final home games starting on Thursday against the Central leading Indians.

Dayton Moore needs his head examined, or he needs to separate from the Royals completely. Hiring Mike Matheny is what you do not do in a rebuild and trending upward.

With Matheny, Royals can see batting lineups not hitting balls with bats for base hits and runs batted in and pitchers not pitching balls.

That and resigning Terence Gore who can't hit over .150 and is not even young anymore... Plus I don't understand the Billy Hamilton signing.. The Royals late in 2018 already had a surplus of Outfielders and they got another one that can't hit at all.

I hope Dayton is building up the prospects and farm because if he is not I want him gone at this point.

Could they have signed Billy Hamilton in preparation of trading later?

Here's a nice little story.

Royals prospect Brady Singer surprises parents by paying off their debt for Christmas
Quote:
Royals prospect Brady Singer made a Christmas memory his family will remember for the rest of their lives.

In June, the Royals selected Singer with the 18th overall pick and he received a $4.25 million signing bonus. Six months later, Singer used a chunk of that money on an amazing Christmas gift for his parents: He paid off their house and wiped out all of their debt.

Singer on Tuesday shared a video of the his parents receiving the gift. He wrote a letter to them, which his mother, Jacquelyn, read as his father, Brett, listened.

Looks like Salvador Perez is going to have Tommy John
surgery and miss 2019. Hoping he can make a full comeback.
