Tuesday: Royals 3 @ Tigers 5. Royals scored 3 runs in the first inning off of Justin Verlander, but Verlander shut them out for the next 6 innings allowing the Tigers to come back and take the first game of the series.
Wednesday: Royals 8 @ Tigers 2. Salvy & Gordon combined for 6 of the 8 RBI's as the Royals split the series at 1-1 with the rubber game set for Thursday afternoon.
Thursday: Royals 3 @ Tigers 7. Tigers put on the power display in the series finale. Justin Upton hit a 3 run homer in the 1st, Ian Kinsler had a solo shot in the 3rd, and Andrew Romine had a 2 run shot in the 4th. Royals scored all 3 in the 9th as they ruined Michael Fulmer's shut out and complete game as Justin Wilson came on for the final out of the game in a non-save situation.

Royals go back home to the K for their final home series of the first half of the schedule as the Twins come in for 4 games which includes a double header on Saturday. Ervin Santana (10-4, 2.80) starts for the Twins Friday vs. Jason Vargas (11-3, 2.29), Jason Hammel (4-6, 4,75) starts the first game Saturday against Jose Berrios (7-2, 2.28), Eric Skoglund (1-1, 5.59) will get the start in the 2nd game against a TBD pitcher for the Twins, while the Twins will throw Hector Santiago (4-7, 5.37) on Sunday against Matt Strahm (2-5, 5.61). The first game Saturday and the Sunday game starts at 2:15, second game Saturday goes at 8:35, and the Friday game starts at 8:15. Tigers stay at home and will welcome in the Central leading Indians for 4 games over the weekend, which also includes a double header on Saturday as well.

Nice series this week against the Twins. Trailed 5-1 in Luke Farrell's first career start and came back to win the first game of the Saturday double header, but unfortunately in the night cap they had an early lead against the Twins rookie pitcher making his first start and blew that one, but tough to sweep a double header.

Friday: Twins 1 @ Royals 8. Newly minted All Star's Eric Hosmer & Jason Vargas lead the way as Vargas allowed 1 run on 2 hits in 7 innings and makes a very strong case to start for the AL in Miami; he'll have 1 more start (Wednesday) to improve on his league best 2.22 ERA. Hosmer had a 3 run homer in a 5 run 3rd which ultimately ended up being the game-winning RBI.
Saturday game 1: Twins 6 @ Royals 11. Twins took an early 5-1 lead but could have had a lot more, and potentially won the game but they left 27 runners on base. Brandon Moss tied the game at 5 with a homer in the 5th, and the starting catcher in the AL Salvy gave the Royals the lead for good with a 2 run single in the 6th.
Saturday, game 2: Twins 10 @ Royals 5. Royals took a quick 2-0 lead in the first on a Hosmer homer, but Twins rookie Felix Jorge was able to shut them down from there, and stuck around through 5 innings when the Twins put up 4 runs in the 5th to give him a lead he would not relinquish, and gave Jorge his first career major league victory.
Sunday: Alcides Escobar had 2 RBI's and Whit Merrifield paced the Royals with 3 hits at the top of the order.

Final series of the first half will be on the West Coast, starting with 3 games in Seattle Monday. Ian Kennedy (2-6, 4.72) starts against rookie Andrew Moore (1-0, 3.86) Monday, Felix Hernandez (3-2, 4.66) starts Tuesday against Danny Duffy (4-4, 3.54) who is scheduled to be activated from the DL prior to the game, and Jason Vargas (12-3, 2.22) starts Wednesday's series finale against Ariel Miranda (7-4, 3.82). Monday & Wednesday game times are at 10:10, while Tuesday's game begins at 6:40. Twins will conclude the first half schedule with 7 games at Target Field this week beginning with 3 games against the Angels starting on Monday.

It is just unbelievable that after the start the Royals had they could go into the all star break on top of the AL west. It will be difficult with 3 against the Dodgers in LA.

A sweep of the Mariners completed in extra innings and they're heading into LA 1/2 game out of the top of the AL central following Thursday's off day.

The Royals are seriously starting to click. They could be a better team the second half of this season then they were when in either 2014 or 2015 when they went to the world series twice. I just hope they can sign one or two of their star players.

Don't look know but they are only 1.5 games back in the division and a half game back in the Wildcard! This weekend should be fun (but facing Kershaw won't be), Dodgers & Royals could very well be the 2 hottest teams in baseball.

Monday: Royals 3 @ Mariners 1. Moose & Gordon homered to back Kennedy.
Tuesday: Royals 7 @ Mariners 3. Merrifield homered off of Felix Hernandez to lead off the game. Nelson Cruz 2 run single in the first put the M's back on top, but Hosmer's home run in the 4th put the Royals on top to stay.
Wednesday: Royals 9 @ Mariners 6 (10 innings). There were 6 runs combined in the first 4 innings with the Royals outscoring the M's 4-2. Mike Zunino and Jean Segura home runs in the 2nd would put the M's on top, in the 2nd, and after a Cruz homer in the 3rd Cain's homer in the 6th would tie it at 6 where it would stay until the 10th where Salvy put the Royals up 8-6 on a homer, and Gordon added the last run on a single.

3 game series against the NL West & NL leading Los Angeles Dodgers begins on Friday. Jason Hammel (4-7, 5.08) starts against Kenta Maeda (6-4, 4.56) on Friday, Ian Kennedy (3-6, 4.44) faces Brandon McCarthy (6-3, 3.25) on Saturday, and Clayton Kershaw (13-2, 2.19) faces Danny Duffy (5-4, 3.51) on Sunday. Friday's game starts at 10:10, Saturday is at 7:15, and Sunday's game begins at 4:10. Mariners started their final series of the first half against the division rival Oakland A's on Thursday where they lost 7-4 and the A's will be in Seattle the rest of the weekend.

Well, KC should have taken the second game. They seem out really off in LA for some reason. Maybe they are somewhat intimidated since they never play there, I don't know. It will be difficult to avoid the sweep now going up against Kershaw, but the Royals have always had a way with pulling off upsets against super star pitchers, so you never know.

Unfortunately, they got cooled down against the Dodgers, but the Dodgers have been coming down EVERYONE since May. The Dodgers were 10-12 after play on April 26 (the day after Cody Bellinger got called up) and they are 51-17 since, and not only have they caught Houston for baseball's best record, but they have actually passed the Astros for baseball's best record.

Friday: Royals 1 @ Dodgers 4. Escobar singled in the 4th for the first run of the game, but the Dodgers would come back with 2 runs in the bottom half on singles by Logan Forsythe and Corey Seager.
Saturday: Royals 4 @ Dodgers 5 (10 innings). Royals started down 0-3, but a Salvy homer in the 8th put them up 4-3. Bellinger would homer in the bottom half to tie the game, and then Bellinger would have the walk off walk as Herrera walked Bellinger with the bases loaded to end a frustrating loss.
Sunday: Royals 2 @ Dodgers 5. Clayton Kershaw threw a complete game 6 hitter with 13 strikeouts and finished it in less than 100 pitches (99).

10 game home stand at the K begins on Friday, starting with 3 against the Rangers. Jason Hammel (4-8, 5.04) starts against Martin Perez (4-6, 4.50) on Friday, Cole Hamels (4-0, 3.51) starts Saturday against Danny Duffy (5-5, 3.76), and Yu Darvis (6-8, 3.49) faces Ian Kennedy (3-6, 4.45) on Sunday in the season finale. Friday's game begins at 8:15, Saturday at 7:15, and Sunday at 2:15. Dodgers All Stars (Bellinger, Kershaw, Justin Turner, Alex Wood and Kenley Jansen) get an extended vacation in Miami as the Dodgers open the second half in Miami against the Marlins,

Well.....this hasn't been too fun. Luckily the AL stinks, so they are still right there. BTW, 12 straight losses to Texas!

Wasn't a very fun weekend.

Friday: Rangers 5 @ Royals 3. Hammel had a no hitter through 5 innings, but an Odor chopper over Hammel's head in the 6th ended that, and a few batters later Adrian Beltre tied the game at 3, and Mike Napoli had a 2 run homer in the 7th for the final margin.
Saturday: Rangers 1 @ Royals 0. Only run came in the 9th when Shin-Soo Choo singled home Joey Gallo.
Sunday: Rangers 3 @ Royals 4. Back and forth game that the Royals 5 game losing streak, and 12 game losing streak to the Rangers ended when Choo lost Cain's ball in the sun and dropped it for the winning run.

4 game series against the Tigers starts on Monday. Jordan Zimmermann (5-7, 5.87) starts for the Tigers against Jason Vargas (12-3, 2.62) Monday, Matt Boyd (2-5, 5.69) starts for Detroit against Travis Wood (1-2, 6.06) Tuesday, Jason Hammel (4-8, 5.02) starts Wednesday against Justin Verlander (5-7, 4.66), and Danny Duffy (5-6, 3.51) starts the season finale against Michael Fullmer (10-6, 3.06) on Thursday. All 4 games begin at 8:15. Rangers continue a 10 game road trip out of the break with the next 4 taking them to Baltimore for 4 games against the floundering O's beginning on Monday.
