Don't like the shift??

Send an e-mail to your favorite team's GM and tell him to have X player work on bunting and hitting the ball the other way. With the way these guys swing for the fences I don't see that happening anytime soon. And you may not like Harper, but you know what he does?? He hits the ball THE OTHER WAY which means teams can't shift him. Maybe guys like Teixiers & Ortiz should take that approach??

Valid point however I can say that fans don't come to games to see the stars hit singles the other way. For certain guys, teams will still shift if a player will hit the other way because they'd rather keep him to a single than a homerun. If anything, I would amend the rule to say 2 infielders must be on each side. If you want to bring an outfielder into the infield, fine. That way there is more risk/reward associated to it.

1. Eliminate the DH rule.
2. Eliminate the wild card: Two divisions in each league, so only one round of playoffs.
3. I like the mandatory stirrups suggestion and getting rid of "God Bless America".
4. Maybe require teams to play double headers once or twice a month.

Implement some sort of payroll cap.

Sure, the "smaller markets" can occasionally do well but over the long haul money talks.

The constant mercenary movement of players is bad for the sport as well.

Make using PEDs and getting busted for illegal drugs a bannable offense. It's ridiculous that the only written sin is gambling on the game. Guys like Bonds, Sosa, McGwire, etc, should be on the same lonely island Pete Rose is on.

I like a lot of the ideas, especially some that will never happen.

Shortening game length was mentioned. One part of the game that takes a long time is pitching changes (although sponsors probably love these). How about some rules that limit the number of pitchers on the roster or the number of pitchers used in a game, or maybe saying that only one change can be made during an inning (except in case of injury). Yes, more runs would score - but fans like that, too. Pitchers might have longer careers if they didn't rely so much on the hard throwing that can't be sustained.
