Even though they were trailing 12-0 19 batters into the game at least Royals fans actually saw history at the ballpark: Edison Volquez allowed 12 runs on 8 hits with 3 walks and 0 strikeouts in 1 inning (faced 3 batters in the 2nd which all came around to score) which may go down as the worst start in MLB history: it's only the 2nd time since 93.........and that's 1893 that a starting pitcher has allowed 12 runs in 1 inning or less.

As for the Royals problems: they can't win on the road. Even with the loss they are the only team in baseball that hasn't lost more than 11 times at home (tonight was loss number 9), but they also have the second fewest number of road wins in the AL (13 only trailing the Twins who have 8), and are tied with the Brewers for 3rd fewest in baseball (only the Twins and the Reds [11] have fewer road wins). I agree Cleveland looks to be the best in the division.....imagine if they get Brantley back?!?! I think they've had him for all of 10 games this year! They also have worse starting pitching this year so the bullpen can't mask it, and Escobar & Morales have struggled big time. Tigers can't beat a team with a winning record it seems like.

When I see a play like the one that ended the CLE/Detroit game last night I can't help but wonder if the curse has truly been broken. What was it, an 8-4-2-1 double play?

Anyone see the fan that ran onto the field mid play in Seattle last night and almost ran into Seth Smith catching the ball?? That was actually pretty funny.
Lucas Giolito starts for the Nats tomorrow. Not as exciting as Strasburg's debut in 2010 was, but still a good day nonetheless. Hopefully, this isn't one of those "spot start" things where they keep him up to fill Strasburg's 3 starts up until the all star break. No doubt he would pitch better than Gio Gonzalez who is a complete gas can now, and might even be better than Max Scherzer at this point.............at least Giolito isn't likely to give up 20 home runs!
Indians tied a club record tonight with their 13th win in a row.
