I liked the moves. Clint Frazier from the Indians is the closest to major league ready, while the SS (Torres) from the Cubs might have more upside but he's still only 19 years old and still 3+ years away from the majors.
We'll see what the Yankees are made of. Their next 11 games are on the road including 4 each at both Boston & Toronto. They are definitely still behind the 8 ball but if they can split in Boston, sweep in Tampa & win 3 of 4 in Toronto they should be able to eek past the Jays in the standings. Tough hill to climb for sure, but the fact they are even in this scenario is remarkable.
They won't lose 95 games but I think we can almost safely eliminate them from the playoffs. Thursday night they were up 5-1 heading into the 8th and still up 5-2 in the 9th with 2 outs before allowing all 5 runs with 2 outs culminating with Hanley Ramirez's 3 run homer. If they could've recorded the final out or gotten a couple extra runs (they left 12 on base) they would've been 3 back in the division. Instead they fell 5 back and lost a "it was worse than it looked" 7-4 game Friday to fall 6 back in the division. They also fell 4 back of Toronto who have won the first 2 in Anaheim. Granted they can still split in Boston, sweep Tampa, and win 3 of 4 in Toronto, but right now it looks like they'll be swept in Boston, and if that's the case game over.

"When you find your why, you find a way to make it happen. When all your energy is gone, when you have nothing left, that's when its SHOWTIME. Champions keep going when they don't have anything left in their tank. That's the difference between the greats, that's what separates them, when they don't have no more, when its over, when they're tired, when they're frustrated, when they ready to give up, when they've spent their last dime that's when they get started"

That is the sort of thing players feed the media. They all believe it about themselves and at the end of each season, there is still only one champion and twenty nine also rans. Were the other twenty nine teams all guilty of giving up when things got frustrating and they felt tired?
We are speaking of people born with superior athletic talents, but they always want us to think that it wasn't their muscles which won the day, it was their superior character. It probably stems from their feelings of guilt over making so much money and getting such preferential treatment even though all they are doing is playing a game for a living.
