Truly sad for all baseball fans to lose what appeared to be a future great.

Beyond sad. One week to go with my team in wild card hunt and, suddenly, I'm not sure I care.
I'm assuming you are a mets fan, as am I. I agree with you 100 percent. Life is so fragile.
I'm thankful I got to see him play live a couple of times. He was well on his way to being one of the top 5 pitchers in baseball, if he wasn't there already. His strike out rate this year I heard is top 5 all time!
But more than that, he just seemed like such an outstanding individual. Always played the game the right way, and you could tell he valued every minute out of life.
His personal struggle in Cuba, his attempt to defect 4 times, and then to achieve his goals here, only to have it cut short, there really just are no words.

He will be missed.
Had Cubs-Cards on which matters to the Mets, and honestly, could not focus on the game.
I never saw him. Wish I did. I did enjoy watching him pitch on tv. He seemed like a class act, and extremely enthusiastic.
I was delighted at the class David Ortiz showed today, btw as he insisted Rays cancel the pre game ceremony honoring him.
I also liked Terry Collin's comments, which were respectful of the unique situation both the Mets and Marlins face.
I don't follow Baseball as much as I did when I was younger. But I do know who some of the great players are today. This kid was definitely a Superstar in the making. He was a great pitcher, and by all accounts a great person. I've read a few articles on his personal journey to the U.S. and him announcing that he was going to be a father soon... This is simply heart-breaking.
