How they treated Steve Bartman. The Cub fans don't deserve a championship after how they treated him that night and the weeks/months after. Death threats, etc. Looking back now many have publicly apologized to him (including many in the media). They still don't deserve a championship and LA is doing a good of extending their suffering
Just a ridiculous blanket judgment. I am a lifelong Cubs fan and I don't blame Steve Bartman. I blame the shortstop (Alex Gonzalez, just so people know his name as well) for not turning what should have been a simple double play to get out of the inning.
One also could blame Dusty Baker for making Mark Prior throw too many pitches all year, not just earlier in the NLCS during a blowout. But that's analyzing too deep, and a lot of armchair fans don't want to do that.
As far as "Why would anyone feel bad for the city of Chicago, 6 titles for the Bulls, Blackhawks have what 2 or 3. Its just some BS Cubs fans have going on," equally ridiculous. It's not about feeling for the city. It's about this fan base that has had generations come and go without seeing a championship. I'm a product of that type of family, at least on my mother's side. If we are going to call that "BS," let's also call BS on Cleveland and many of their fans for playing the woe-is-me card for generations.
If the Cubs end up playing Cleveland, it will be interesting to see how the sentimental rooting lines up. Fans of other teams in their divisions probably will root for the opponent (i.e. Cardinals, Reds, Pirates, Brewers fans probably will pull for Cleveland). I think the majority of people with no real rooting interest will pull for the Cubs.

And I'm pleased the Dodgers got beat down like Bryan Stow, who would probably trade his situation gladly for Steve Bartman's.
