Other Colorado Rockies threads have been season-by-season affairs. On this Opening Day of the 2017 Season it is my pleasure to bring you the Definitive Colorado Rockies Thread. What makes THIS thread the definitive thread? It says so in the title, of course!

We have a surprising number of Rockies fans who chat here, so I hope to hear everyone's thoughts on the team this season. As for today, the Rox went up to Miller Park and beat the Brewers 7-5. I think it's pretty evident: This is a World Series champ waiting to happen!

Okay really, in 2017 I am hoping for the best, expecting 76-86.

Go Rockies!

Good game by the Rockies. One point they were up 4-0 and Brewers came from behind to tie it at 4 and Rockies would come back from 5-4 to win 7-5.

I think the Rockies will win between 85 and 90 games this year. Unfortunately that won't be enough to get them a wild card berth. Still it'll be nice watching them play meaningful games after the All-Star break.

I hope you're right about that win total. I just can't bring myself to believe. I think if they do get closer to 90 wins that may be enough to get them in.

I would've liked the Rockies a lot more if they didn't get killed with all those injuries the final 10-14 days of Spring Training.

Rockies are 2-0 for only the 5th time in club history after beating the Brew Crew 6-5. This, of course, is without Ian Desmond and David Dahl in the lineup.

I'm a little concerned because the Rockies are working their bullpen pretty hard - 8+ innings pitched for the pen in the first two games. They've gotta get more production out of their starters or they'll burn the bullpen to the ground.

Yeah, that's going to take its tole eventually. It would be great if the team could average 6+ innings from their starters. Of course, there's going to be games where the starter gets chased and we go to a long relief man. Also there will be a lot of situational appearances where someone comes out of the bullpen to face one batter, or the pitcher's spot in the lineup comes around and Black goes to a DH. But as a general rule, I think the goal should be 6+ from the starters.

I'll take 2-0, especially on the road.

So the Rockies open a 4 game set on the road, getting outscored 16-17 but winning 3 of 4. That's a good start! Bring on the Dodgers for the home opener!

Senzatela looked good in his debut today. Greg Holland is making Jeff Bridich look like a genius. Big test for the Rockies at home tomorrow against the Dodgers.

Absolutely. Some early season wins against the Dodgers would be nice. The Rockies just can't seem to get the upper hand on the Dodgers, home or away. I hope getting them for the first home series puts a little more boost in it for the Rox.

The lineup should do okay against Ryu. They looked great in the first two games against the Brewers before going quiet in the second two. Fortunately 2 runs was all they needed yesterday. It's probably going to take more than that against the Dodgers today.
