I agree with both of these, but then while speeding up the game with new rules such as pitcher delivery time, I would make the game more interesting/exciting for the players, but adding more action. Whether it's increasing the distance from mound to home plate, or something else, perhaps no intentional walks. Already I see the benefits of the banning of the "shift."

I'm a big baseball fan, but with all the added playoff games, I'd like to see the season shortened back to 154 games, with at least half a dozen scheduled double headers. The World Series shouldn't be played in November and the regular season shouldn't start until the second week of April.

While I'm at it ... The game has lost a lot of excitement by making it illegal to block the plate and banning breaking up the double play. No wonder a lot of young people aren't interested. Although, I do like that they sped the game up with the pitch clock. And, where have all the outfield cannons gone?

I'd also do away with the ticky tack runner on second in extra innings ... Good grief, they're highly paid professionals.
The designated hitter took so much strategy out of the game ... Every team doesn't need to have a 'representative' in the all-star game. You're either an all-star or you aren't.

And do away with interleague play, it's lost it's luster.

Don't get me started about the lack of contact being made and the lack of starting pitchers going deep into games ...

Get off my lawn!

Joe
