Personally I am in favor of shortening the regular season and 162 games is too long. I would start from at least the first full week of April and end it in mid September.

You don't explain why and you don't provide your idea of how many games there should be. Shorten it to 161 games? 16 games like the NFL?

From a fan's perspective, except for NFL, all the major sports (NBA, MLB, NHL) are too long, imo.....unfortunately the sports record books would all be changed as well as the income for owners/playrs - so I guess you'll see the long seasons continue.....guess economically having long seasons is good for all the workerbees who work at the stadiums as well.....even PGA tour is oversaturated w/ events, imo.....Season pretty much lasts from Jan-October.

Baseball is the one sportball league I'd leave alone with the number of games. Speed up the games and it's fine.

Yes and no. The number of games is fine, the lack of double-headers is the problem. At one time there was a DH almost every Sunday, that would easily cut 15-25 days out of the schedule.

I think teams today would be worried about doing double-headers, as they would burn through their pitching staff, particularly their bullpen doing DHs. Of course, if they had more time off between games, then that might not be a problem.

What I hope doesn't happen is that we end up with a ice hockey - like playoff system.

And I like the fact that baseball heralds spring, but the 1955 7th game was played on October 4th (a fall classic) while the 2017 7th was on November 1st, that is far too deep into the fall for me. You shouldn't have to attend the world series wearing a parka.

Over the last couple of seasons I just start to tune out from the season from about mid-May to mid August (I travel the country in the camper) and follow MLB from a distance (reading headlines of sports page, glance at standings).....that's how I get over the long, long season.....also unload a lot of my tickets for my team (Rays) during those months as I'm out of town.....
