Matt Chapman's home run in the second turned out to be the last hit Ohtami would yield. He retired 14 of the next 15 guys, interrupted by one walk. He struck out six in six innings and has a 4.50 ERA for his ML career.
Apart from the second inning glitch, he looked really good. A high nineties heater and impressive command of a wide array of off speed stuff.
That he will get his first win is still in the air. Angels lead 7-4 with two outs in the 9th, but the bases are loaded.....
Whoever is selecting the music that gets played at the Coliseum has a sense of humor. Today when the Angels convened one of their official meetings on the mound, the fans were treated to recording of Aram Khachaturian's "Sabre Dance." You know the music even if you don't know it by name....it's what is always playing in the background whenever you've seen one of those plate spinning acts.
How about the Minnesota Twins' starting pitching after 3 games? They're sporting an ERA of 0.00. It doesn't get much better than that. Oh, it DOESN'T get better than that. Berrios pitched a complete game, 3 hit shutout yesterday.

After the Brewers lost to the Cardinals earlier today there are only 3 unbeaten teams left in baseball: The White Sox, Nationals & Pirates. Of those 3 teams the Nationals are the only one of the 3 that have yet to finish a half inning trailing or tied. They opened the season with 3 games in Cincinnati, scored in the first inning of all 3 games (and since as the road team they bat first), and the Reds never got any of the 3 games tied up. Tonight they are playing in Atlanta meaning as the road team they are batting first and guess what: Of course they got a first inning run! They lead by as much as 5-0 and now carry a 6-1 lead into the 6th inning. So, for those counting at home that's currently 32.5 innings that the Nats have not been tied or been trailing after any half inning of play. Anyone know what stretch is the longest at any point in the season, and what's the longest such streak to start a season?? The Nats may not hold the season record, but I'd have to think they would at least be in the running for the most consecutive half innings to start the season.
