When the NFL went on strike in the '80's and the teams played games using scabs, the media came up with appropriate new names for the teams, like the San Francisco Phoney-Niners, The Oakland Masqueraiders, The LA Shams, and my personal favorite, the Buffalo Counterfeit Bills.

I thought it was a shame that the plans of the ML owners to use scabs at the start of the '95 season when that strike was still going, fell through. It would have called for making up new names for the ML teams. We could have had:
The Green Giants
The Double A's
Chicago Lite-Sox
Chicago Subs
Texas Strangers
Cincinnati Red-Herrings
Toronto New Jays
Houston Astro-Nots
Montreal Exposed
...and I would have left it to the media to do the rest.
