The Red Sox got a very light punishment, that's for sure. Really lucked out.
The Houston fans, at least some of them on this forum, seemed to be hoping for a big Red Sox scandal to take some of the heat off of their ballclub. This falls way short of that. One lower level employee disciplined isn't going to have a big impact in the public's mind. The anger over all cheating will be focused still on the Astros.
That is if there is still any anger out there. The postponement of the season has shifted the spotlight away from the scandals and that won't be as fresh in the minds of the fans once they do get the season underway.

Or....if they get the season underway.
It's still a surprise, though, GS, as the Red Sox lose just one draft pick. One. Cora will be suspended for this year. And, as I've said, the only way for this stuff to pass away is for both franchises to play clean going forward. And they're both still capable of doing things the right way. Ditto for the Yankees, who have also been accused.

Cora's suspension is for his actions when he was with Houston.

Of course.... it was just a rogue employee. Cora wouldn't cheat one year afterwards of doing so in Houston. Such a nice slap on the wrist for one of baseball's storied franchises.

From the linked article in earlier post:
Quote:
Baseball commissioner Rob Manfred wrote in his report that he does not believe Cora was aware of Watkins' actions, and he will not impose additional discipline.
Do you know something which Manfred was unable to uncover?

It all depends on your perspective, what does Manfred want to uncover? Smart of the Red Sox to all keep their mouths shut after watching happened. It does make me smile that Betts ended up on the Dodgers after Cora upped the system in Boston.
