Fauci, Leading Fight Against Coronavirus, Misses Baseball, Too
A devoted Yankees fan fell in love with the Washington Nationals. But Dr. Anthony S. Fauci concedes it’s going to be a while before he goes to another game.
But the person with the avuncular demeanor delivering such sobering news as well as practical advice with his Brooklyn accent at news conferences is a superfan with deep knowledge of baseball history. https://www.nytimes.com/2020/05/01/s...l-running.html
Why wouldn't it be possible to root for both teams? They only play once every three years. If he rooted for the Nats over the Yankees when the two played, that's absolutely questionable.
Nats had a great run last year as we all know and were a pretty likable team.

Maybe it's how I interpret it but rooting for another team & falling in love with a team are 2 different things. I would root for the Nationals all day long if they were playing the Astros.

I see what you mean. I am a Cubs fan but I have affinity for some AL teams, largely the Tigers as a lot of my college friends rooted for them and I attended several of their games in the final years of old Tiger Stadium.
I didn't mind the AL version of the Astros until after they won the World Series and the fan base and organization became insufferable.
