Controlling 25 big-league ball players' minds from 400 miles away is not a laughing matter...yet.

As far as MaggieKate's post, she obviously is giving up the ghost on her Rays and is genuflecting on the Bostonians' prospects of a WS victory, "and why money" is evidently a loose translation of an Arameic saying that roughly means "oh, wo is me".

Default Orioles-White Sox Game on 4/29 Closed to Public

Yup, you didn't misread it. Thanks to the rioting and the citywide curfew in Baltimore, the Orioles will play to an empty Camden Yards tomorrow. It'll be the lowest-attended MLB game since the Expos moved to DC.

Baltimore Orioles-Chicago White Sox series finale will be played Wednesday, closed to public

In June of 1979, the Oakland A's who were on their way to losing 108 games that season, played a home game against the Indians which drew only 1,175 fans. Had I not been there it would have been 1,174. I think that figure was how many tickets they had sold, not how many people were actually there because it looked like there were fewer than a thousand fans on hand.

It was an interesting experience. You had your own private vendors, you could have an entire section to yourself if you wanted and several fans were doing just that, occupying otherwise empty sections so that they got any foul ball hit into that section. You could very easily hear the ballplayers talking on the field it was so quiet otherwise.

Cleveland won in a blowout, so no one was really even paying any attention to the game after the first few innings, mostly everyone was on the move, wandering around trying out different seats or just going for a stroll. By the late innings most of the fans had already left, giving the Coliseum a real ghost town feel.

I thought it was pretty cool.

The White Sox will feel right at home with an empty stadium for an early season week night game. I say this as a White Sox fan.

Games have been delayed as the article states, but an attendance of 0? I can think of only one instance that's happened and it was done in the minors as a promotion by the Charleston RiverDogs (a low-A team owned by Bill Murray and Mike Veeck (yes, Bill Veeck's son)).

Unbelievable! I feel sorry for the baseball fans who are missing their game because others can't behave!
