Default Game #124 (2015-08-23, 14:20): Cubs 9, Braves 3

A bad outing by Matt Wisler sent the Braves to a 9-3 loss against the Cubs, completing a four game sweep and extending the losing streak, and forgettable road trip, to seven games.

Reaction:

Wisler could rehabilitate his game with an assignment with Gwinnett.

There are no more assignments to Gwinnett. Their season ends in less than a week. Wisler would never even get the chance to pitch. September call ups begin in 8 days. Nice try though.

A somewhat non-related item: what are the requirements to play in the Arizona Fall League? I have wondered if maybe spending a little time in the AFL might be good for Christian Bethancourt, as it would allow Atlanta to get an extended look at him against better (though not quite MLB) competition. I thought it might be especially important since they will only have 1 month (September) to evaluate him at the MLB level before spring training of next year.

I get the distinct impression that the FO is done with Bethancourt. I highly doubt he will be with the organization next season. Just the fact that while he's been in AAA he's been doing quite well, yet hasn't been called back up yet. I think there must be something that isn't public knowledge that has led him to being on the ****-list with the organization.

Well, they finally recalled Bethancourt today. I guess the team wants to see what he can do in the remaining time this season to see if he can even be a potential backup next year or they want to try to build up a little value for a potential trade.

Melvin Upton seems to be playing alright with the Padres recently but so is Cameron Maybin with the Braves. Both teams are sort of doing ok with their trades.
