The Braves improve to 8-4 for the season with a 5-2 win over the Blue Jays. Shelby Miller improved to 2-0 in three starts, and Jason Grilli picked up his sixth save of the season.

The Braves take Monday off before a three game series against the New York Mets at Citi Field.

My thoughts so far:

While I am happy with the results thus far, I am once again very upset with Fredi's management style. It is clear that he is operating on a "win now" process, knowing that he is only on a 1 year contract and he thinks it would be renewed should he post good results this year. However, with this being a rebuilding team, there is no excuse why Alberto Callaspo should be starting almost every game over Jace Peterson and Chris Johnson. We need to give Peterson some regular at bats to see what this kid can actually do, he will never progress if he's relegated to the bench. If you're not going to play him regularly, send him to AAA where he can get some regular at bats. As for Johnson, give him at bats so that hopefully he can perform and become trade bait for July. That way we can unload his horrible contract, then Fredi can play his homeboy Callaspo.

The back half of the rotation (Cahill and Stults) have been awful, as advertised. It's only a matter of time before Cody Martin is called on to start or Folty is called up from AAA. The bullpen has been outstanding, but they are being overused at this juncture. 3 of our relievers hold the MLB lead for apperances and innings pitched. They can't keep that pace up. We need our starters to pitch into the 7th for a string of games.

Twelve games into the season, there is nothing to complain about the Braves if they are winning. The 2015 season is a complete turnaround from the 2014 season.

Fredi González is a good manager. He has not ascended into excellence yet because he has not won enough. Having a roster of players that actually play and a coaching staff that actually coaches combined to win games are steps into the right direction. González is aware he needs to manage his team better in order to win.

The Braves have a big series against the Mets, who are on an eight-game win streak. The Mets' wins are against the Phillies and Marlins. I think the Mets have limited success.

I respectfully disagree. I believe Fredi to be a below-average to poor manager. He will not, repeat will not, be the manager going into the 2017 season. He was only retained going into this season as there was no need to bring in a new manager to have 2 losing, or non-playoff, seasons. I believe at this point for Fredi to keep his job in 2017, the Braves would need to win back to back World Series titles in 15 and 16.

If the Braves qualify for the postseason this season and win a National League divisional series, González earns an extension, likely two or three years at the maximum.

Default Game #13 (2015-04-21): Braves at Mets

Trevor Cahill (0-1, 15.43 earned run average) starts for the Braves against Jonathon Niese (1-0, 1.59 earned run average) and the Mets.

I hope Cahill has a much better outing than his previous start against the Marlins.

Default Game #13 (2015-04-21): Mets 7, Braves 1

Trevor Cahill did not lean his lesson against his start against the Marlins. He pitched well until the fifth inning, which he allowed four runs. He falls to 0-2 as the Braves lost 7-1. They fall to 8-5 for the season.

I think Cahill is incompetent and incapacitated to perform on the Braves' rotation at the moment. He needs an assignment with Gwinnett to work on his game, or he loses his next start.

Freddie Freeman should see reduced duties after striking out three times at five at-bats.

Default Game #14 (2015-04-22): Braves at Mets

Eric Stults (0-1, 6.30 ERA) goes up against Dillon Gee (0-1, 7.59 ERA) in the second of a three-game series between the Braves and Mets at Citi Field.

The Braves' offense was absent in the 7-1 loss against the Mets Tuesday. I would like to see the Braves bounce back by hitting balls with bats and batting in runs.
