Its always sad to see the stadium that you grew up watching baseball be demolished. I was even somewhat sad to see the Vet get imploded....lots of good memories there. But in hindsight, I like the new stadium better, so I did get over my sadness....

I am beside myself. My memories there are very deep. I try to look at it as the "dawning of a new era".

Been a Yankee fan for 50 plus years. Collected BB cards as a kid. Saved them all except Bill Mazeroski's. I'd get a clothes pin and put it on one of the bicycle spokes on my three speed Schwinn, all the while saying "That's what you get for hitting that home run, you &%##@!*. Used to get the Yankee channel on direc tv but switched to cable. Always wanted to see Yankee stadium. Mantle, Berra, Whitey, Maris, Reg, so many stars. Wished I'd taped the all star game, especially the pregame.

I remember getting all choked up when Boston Garden was demolished. So I can relate to such a historical stadium being razed and the emotions fans must be feeling. Cheer up guys. Nothing lasts forever - except Fenway and Wrigley! And, man, Fenway was on the ropes there more than once.

Always wanted a Schwinn, HH. Had to settle on a J.C. Higgins from Sears.

SP!! Whazzup? The thing I appreciated about the all star game was it wasn't just just the Yankees introduced, it was all the living HOF major leaguers. Carew, Kaline, Killebrew, McCovey, the Say Hey Kid, Yaz, Hammerin' Hank, Brooks Robinson (nicknamed the human vacuum cleaner), and many, many others. It was a celebration of the past and the present! The only thing I regretted was not seeing Stan "The Man" Musial make it to the ceremonies. Also Sandy Koufax and Duke Snider. But one of the old guys DID make it. Bob Feller. It was just a great way to honor the old players.
