Why do teams celebrate with champagne after clinching a division title and winning a first round playoff series? Isn't that supposed to be for when you win the title? Everyone is in the lockerroom pouring each other and they still have to win 7 more games? Did this ever make sense to any other baseball fan?

Celebrate while you can, after the next series they may be scowling and weeping into their locker room towels.

He can't. And I happen to get a kick out of his posts, but let's face it, he can't turn it off. Then again, that's the idea. MLB loves these celebrations. Usually they're being watched on TV by people who are happy and over the top with excitement. What better time to have the players throw on their new championship shirts and caps, the same ones that are available on shop.mlb.com as the champagne continues to flow? Of course the players are excited, but they're not the only ones.

Well, look at that! For a change, I agree with you. Once upon a time, the champagne was reserved for the championship game. But that's how things go when sports have stopped being sports, and instead turned into television shows. Anything is an excuse for a little celebrating. Give 'em a few more years; before you know it, champagne celebrations for shutouts will be acceptable. Also grand slam home runs, game winning RBI's, and any starting pitcher who can get past the sixth inning.
