3-3. Would have been nice to get the sweep in Oakland or not blow that second game in Arizona, but at least it wasn't a losing trip. They get Milwaukee in for 3 games following an off day Thursday, and than get the D'Backs in for 3 games.

They'll miss Zac Gallen in St. Louis this go around as he's scheduled to pitch Saturday in San Francisco, but it looks like they'll get Jordan Montgomery in for the final game of the homestand. They are still a last place team (albeit only 3 games behind so one series can completely change the division) I'll set the weekly goal at another 3-3.

Default 11-14

2-4 week. After getting swept by the Brewers this had a chance to spiral out of control. The it got worse as they were down 3-0 late in the first game vs. the D'Backs. They won game 1 on a Nolan Gorman walk off homer. Then preceded to get blown out 14-1 in game 2. And in game 3 against old friend Jordan Montgomery they did nothing for half of the game took the lead on a wild pitch in the 6th, and seems like for the first time all season actually added onto the lead. So, yes it was only 2-4 but it could have easily been 1-5 or even 0-6, so I guess that's a positive?? Of course on the other hand they could've easily won 2 out of 3 against the Brewers so they could have made it 4-2 instead but that's baseball. They go on the road for 6 games this week: 3 in Queens starting on Friday, and than 3 in Detroit starting Monday night.

I'll go 3-3 for the goal again this week. The Mets are a streaky team: they started the year 4-7; then they won 8 of 9 to get to 12-8, now have lost 3 of their last 4 going into Friday night's game and Friday will be the first game for them coming out of a West Coast trip. Usually that first game back from that trip is sluggish, so maybe they can steal the first game and split the next 2 to get out of Queens with a series win. And the Tigers have also been streaky themselves: started the year 6-1, lost 9 of their next 14 to fall to 11-10, but have won their last 3 heading into Wednesday night's game at Tampa. They are still in last, but all 5 teams are within 4.5 games with the Brewers in first, Cubs a half game back, Reds 1.5 back, Pitt 2 back and the Cards are 4.5 back.

The Cardinals have the opportunity to sweep the Mets. It would be great to move on to Detroit at 0.500.

They got the split for the week which was the goal. But they had a chance to sweep the Mets; Mets won on a walk off 2 run homer after tying the game with 2 outs in the 11th, and than went to Detroit and lost 2 of 3. I'm going to start updating these on Sunday from now on.

They come home for 3 against the White Sox this weekend and this must absolutely be a series sweep. No excuses! Sweep the White Sox, a lot of teams have done that! The Brewers are in first, Cubs are 1 back, Reds are 3 back, Cards are 5.5 back, and the Pirates are in last at 6 back.

The boo-birds in STL were out in full force recently. We've got to quiet them down a bit. This division is still winnable.

Change the boos to yays......

Cardinals and Pirates fighting for last place, I think the Cardinals will win it.

Reading the posts on Cardinals websites are more entertaining when they are sucking.

One word sums up this weekend: Embarrassing! This should have been a series where they get right, instead they take 100 steps backwards. How you don't score 1 run with the bases loaded and 0 outs I don't know, and than 1 run the whole game on Sunday. Even the game they won on Friday wasn't that impressive. Mets come in for 3 games beginning tonight, and than they head to Milwaukee for 4 over the weekend. I'm not expecting anything in Milwaukee they'll be lucky if they get a split, but hopefully they can win another series against the Metsies before then. Brewers and Cubs are tied for first, Reds are 4.5 back, Pirates are 5 back, and the Cards are 5.5 back.

Default Injury

The Cards are struggling this year and things got worse yesterday when J.D. Martinez of the Mets swung at a pitch and the bat connected with the left forearm of Cards Catcher Willson Contreras. The best hitter the Cards had now has a broken left arm and will probably be out until the All-Star Game.

Final: Brewers 7, Cardinals 1

Sonny Gray has issues. He allowed six earned runs and performed inappropriate acts on the mound disrespectful to the game and to the Cardinals.

The Cardinals need to make changes to trend upward in wins. Batting in runs, striking out opposing hitters, and winning games work. John Mozeliak and Oliver Marmol do not work.

Final: Brewers 11, Cardinals 2

Cardinals' pitching coach Dusty Blake, assistant pitching coach Dean Kiekhefer, and assistant pitching coach/bullpen Julio Rangel need help being fired. They cannot coach pitchers to pitch. They are performing acts disrespectful to the game of baseball and the Saint Louis Cardinals organization.
