I'll agree with you on Allen Iverson. Amazing player, but he shot his team out of so many games trying to load up on points. Kinda like Westbrook did recently to the Thunder. Duncan's not overrated, yup he's boring as sin but gets it done. I feel Shaqs "too big to officiate" cop-out was an excuse to create a star from a large man that most school yard kids shoot better than. He's a great player yes, but I think overrated because his accomplishments have more to do with jarring guys out of his way more than any application of skill. Nash was awesome in his prime, MVPs are debatable, but he was not overrated. Never understood all the hoopla over Chris Bosh. Good player yes, maybe a tad overrated.
IMO, Allen Iverson is both one of the most talented players and one of the most overrated players in NBA history. The guy simply could not play with other star-caliber offensive players because he needed the ball in his hands ALL THE TIME. Almost by definition, Iverson's game made it impossible for him or his teams to win an NBA title; he could only play with defensive-oriented (and rebounding-oriented) players who didn't need the ball much, and most defensive-oriented players are limited offensively, making their teams easier to defend. It was a minor miracle he even played in the NBA Finals once, with the 2000-2001 76ers (a team that had a magical season where just about everything went right and also a team that nearly lost in the conference semifinals to the Toronto Raptors). Not coincidentally that 76ers team was basically composed of defensive-oriented, unselfish role players besides Allen Iverson.
