Okay follow me with this. So for those who watch football, you may have witnessed the return of RG3 from ACL and LCL reconstructive surgery. In the first half of the game he looked very tentative and hesitant to put pressure on his knee. As a result of the way he played, the argument could be made that he cost his team the game. With that said, could you imagine Derrick Rose going through that in the playoffs last year? How much would he have hurt the team by trying to play? If he spent his time battling confidence in his knee in the midst of a playoff game, he could have hampered the team's momentum. So my question for you all is, after seeing RG3, do you see Derrick Rose decision not to play differently?
It's not just the injury he has to recover from, it's also the rust he has to shake off. Poor choice to comeback in the most important time of the year and expect to be the same. better to have time back to get into your groove. Look at MJ in 95 and he wasn't even injured.

The Bulls lost in '95 because they lost Grant and they didn't have Rodman yet. Jordan and Pippen had to crash the boards every time against Orlando. Longley and Wennington weren't getting it done and Kukoc was a perimeter big man. And the Bulls still managed to win 2 games.

I don't compare the two. Two different people. Everyone is different, respond differently to being injured and to treatment. Rose's decision will be validated by his successful return, not by RG3's struggles.
I think RG3 came back too soon. I get the impression that Shanahan is an impatient man, and under pressure to produce a winner or else be out of a job. If I were RG3, I would've delayed my return until I was absolutely 100%. One has to wonder if RG3 (or even Rose) will EVER be the same again after such an injury. One wrong move, and re-injury is likely.

So were you okay with Rose waiting? I know some people thought he could have come back sooner, but I think he knows his body better than anyone. I look at RG3 not necessarily as an apples to apples compaison but perhaps looking at it like, if Derrick Rose came back during the playoffs he could have had similar struggles. Is your point that if Derrick Rose comes back with no issue then we won't question why he waited?

Cannot compare in a sense. NFL players are a lot tougher and stronger than NBA players.
You also cannot pin the Redskins loss to the Eagles on RGIII. The NFL is a true team sport unlike the NBA.
I thought Rose made the right call. It takes 11 months to rehab an ACL, so he would not have been able to come back in time to make a difference in the playoffs. I can think of 2 guys off hand who had knee injuries and never were quite the same--Dennis Hopson & Ron Harper.
Now he should be coming back 100%, and the Bulls have a decent chance to get to the finals this year. I still think they need to come up with another back up center. Sooner or later Noah is going to get injured. What is the plan then? Play 35-yr-old Nazir Mohammed 48 minutes?
His team was in the playoffs. In a game seven. And he sat there in a suit, medically cleared as being "100%".
Nobody and nothing will ever validate his decision. Here's a guy who was born in Chicago, grew up in Chicago, went to college in Chicago, plays for Chicago, and bailed on the team when they needed him the most.
They won the Brooklyn series without him (which was painful for me to watch), and he didn't get up off the bench in the second round, either. He's just got no heart. RG3 has heart. There's no comparison.
