I love the standings after the first day of the season where only 6 of 30 teams played. The Wizards, Raptors, 76ers, Cavs, Bobcats and Pistons would all be playoff teams from the East if the season ended today. Don't believe me?? Take a look:https://twitter.com/maxl100/status/3.../photo/1/large
i have to say i am surprised at least a little bit that we didnt have any lakers "love" or silly talk after they beat the clippers on opening night last night.

Nah, even the fanboys that have been irritating us over the past few years aren't going to stick their necks out on that team.
I'd bet my left nut that the GM that anonymously told the reporter they were essentially writing off the season, evaluating young players and not worrying about wins due to the strong draft class.....was the Lakers.
Why? Because that's exactly what a smart team should do, although you cannot state that openly.....and the Lakers are one of the top handful of teams in the NBA in terms of management.
Didn't watch any of last night's games but watched most of the recaps. Still excited about Minnesota's prospects if they can improve defense. Dwight did well but a lot of those rebounds were uncontested... if not taken over the head of his teammate. I've always wanted there to be a Contested Rebound Stat - if no opposing player is in the paint it shouldn't even count towards stats.
Looking forward to seeing Timberwolves and Rockets meet.
East:
1. Miami Heat
2. Indiana Pacers
3. Chicago Bulls
4. Brooklyn Nets
5. New York Knicks
6. Atlanta Hawks
7. Cleveland Cavaliers
8. Toronto Raptors
West:
1. San Antonio Spurs
2. Golden State Warriors
3. Oklahoma City Thunder
4. Houston Rockets
5. Los Angeles Clippers
6. Memphis Grizzlies
7. Dallas Mavericks
8. Portland TrailBlazers
Instead of watching Miami/Nets decided to watch OKC/Timberwolves. So glad I did. I put Minnesota at #7 in my original post but I'm tempted to move them up. If they can avoid serious injuries they're making the playoffs for sure.

Offensive rebounds would generally be considered a contested rebound stat.
Why not provide that data from basketball reference?

The NBA has about 5x more games than the NFL.
Essentially, it's not even halftime of week 1.....

Sure its early in the season but I've been waiting a long time to watch healthy Rubio / Love / Pekovic. I'm happy to watch them beat the Thunder and Knicks. People are still underestimating them because they're not a bunch of sponsored players. It may be early in the season but these wins still count for standings.
