what would be the description of your average nba fan?

i know sports and politics dont usually mix, but it seems nba fans would be more liberal then conservative. im not saying thats universal, as there are several conservative posters on this forum who seem to be nba fans, like mathguy and drob.

Just about everything has been studied. In general, sports fans lean to conservative, but the NBA and WWE fans go the other way, more liberal.
WWE fans are also the least likely sports fans to vote. This from the Nielsen and Arbitron rating agencies. Interesting stuff.

Ironic. Most people involved in pro-wrestling are Republicans.

In terms of NBA, it transcends gender, race, ideology, but it's a game anyone can play, so it'll always skew more towards the poor and underprivileged, which usually means liberals.

On that one, NASCAR’s own website says their fans vote 35% Republican, 28 % Democrat. Not what you would think, in fact more o them voted for Obama than Romney.

On the other hand, the organizers and drivers are clearly conservative, with almost 90% of their political campaign donations going to Republican candidates.

The NBA has a younger and more progressive following. It probably has to do with NBA basketball's association with hip hop and pop culture at large. You see more celebrities at Madison Square Garden and Staples Center than you do at other sports venues.

Eh. You'll have more celebrities in Yankee Stadium on any given night than MSG. It's just not emphasized as much in baseball and football, perhaps because they're outdoor stadiums with a lot more people there rather than an intimate 15,000 arena.
