The NBA has pulled the 2017 All-Star Game out of Charlotte, with New Orleans emerging as the favorite to be the new host, reports The Vertical’s Adrian Wojnarowski.
The NBA had discussed moving the game in the wake of North Carolina’s controversial “bathroom bill,” legislation passed earlier this year that has been criticized as anti-LGBT. Formally known as House Bill 2, the law forces transgender people to use the bathroom corresponding with the gender on their birth certificate.
This is just bullying by the nba, the "bathroom" bill is for Gov't. buildings and schools only. Businesses can handle it however they wish, but what else would one expect from the warped left. Typical whackiness. I can see this ending up in the Politics forum.
Yeah, it's a politics discussion and should go to that cesspool of a forum, but the NBA has been working hard on its LGBT-friendly image, with Silver being the first major sports commissioner to attend a Gay Pride rally/parade, so it shouldn't be a surprise they pulled out.
NBA should stay out of politics. If the people of NC don't like certain policies they will talk using their votes. Is the NBA going to start throwing their weight around on every political issue they disagree with? Sports is supposed to be an outlet away from political stuff.
Sports should stay out of politics, just like politics should stay out of sports. As Eddie said sports should be the outlet away from the political issues, as someone that grew up in New York I was beyond thrilled when the Yankees & Mets resumed playing baseball after 9/11 because it was something I could be happy about and not seeing the rubble and the smoke where the twin towers stood for the previous 10 days.

Uh do you mean like the Christian right does all the time?
If people feel it's OK to discriminate against others, I guess they have that right, in their house, in their church but not in public places.

So what's your point? The NBA should be as politically involved as the Christian right?
If the NBA cares so strongly about LGBT rights why the hell do they have games in Turkey and invite the Turkish teams to the US?
