Imagine Durant, Harden & Westbrook on the same team in 2017. This would be a team to challenge Golden State. I am not one of the OKC bashers (they abound in Seattle), but I'm guessing that a 20-something multi-millionaire would be more inclined to stay in Seattle than in OKC. Seattle has been in an economic boom for around the past 6 years, and is somewhat of a millennial mecca.

OKC is a much smaller market, and their economic mainstay is energy, which has not been doing great the past several years. OKC is also culturally conservative; while Seattle now even has legal pot (reportedly popular among some NBA players).

nah the city the team is in, isnt much of a factor anymore.

OKC is a far far less expensive city to live in, and not terribly far from the DFW area where they can get and do anything they could want to do just about that they would look for in seattle.

as has been discussed around here several times, with travel being quick and easy, and money being far far higher, the "big market vs small market" argument is out dated.

in addition, harden leaving didnt have anything to do with the city, neither did durant.

No, James Harden was traded to the Houston Rockets because the Thunder management didn't want to go over the cap and give him the maximum contract extension (the maximum of that time), as they already had committed a large sum to Kevin Durant, Russell Westbrook, and Serge Ibaka.

Kevin Durant didn't leave the Thunder because of the city, he loved Oklahoma City, he has several properties and business ventures there and he realizes he can just live in another bigger city during the offseason. He left the Thunder because he felt that he could not win with Russell Westbrook as the teams point guard and the style of play the Thunder were accustomed to ("hero-ball").

Seattle has nothing to do with it. Even if the organization stayed in Seattle, this same thing would've happened anyways because the reason Harden, Durant, and Ibaka are gone have nothing to do with the city (Oklahoma City).
