If you have a player that dominates a certain conference but doesn't win the championship most of time then either:
A. The player is overrated.
B. Conference doesn't have enough competition.
C. Bad luck.
Now imagine in the NFL, that if Tom Brady made the Superbowl 7 times in a row but only won 3, people would definitely be complaining and calling him overrated.
Bottom line is the league needs more parity or the appearance of more parity.

Had this same discussion with a friend.
He's been to 6 straight. He's won 3. He's lost badly in a few (2011) and (2014). He won game 7's resulted in championships (2013), (2016), and won another convincingly (2012).
Some may not, but I give him a pass for (2015). He won two games with Delly being his sidekick after he had to adapt during the series with Kyrie out. Would Jordan win a series without Scottie and Horace Grant in the early 90s? Kobe without D Fisher and Shaq?
So arguably you can count 5 chances and 3 titles resulting from those chances.
ECF So this decade - 6 for 6 with Eastern conference foes. He's 100% beating teams that he should.
NBA Finals this decade- He lost in 2011 as the favorite, 2014 he lost to Hall of Fame coach and inspired talented squad. He was the underdog in 2015.
1 series lost as a favorite (2011)
1 series lost as an slight favorite/equal (2014)
1 series lost as an underdog (2015)
1 series won as a slight favorite/equal ( 2013)
1 series won as a favorite (2012)
1 series won as an underdog (2016)
His numbers suggest he's not overrated, you could argue the competition isn't as strong yet he's won 3 of 5 when its the western conference as the opponent. 2015 was a little bad luck.
On a side note, the Warriors had a clear path this year. Portland and Utah without key guys and SAS without two of their best players. Last season they beat and OKC team that Cleveland/Lebron (both Miami and Cle) has historically handled.
