Dealing Shumpert possibly.

Dealing Love unlikely.

Getting Korver back would be more than ideal but unlikely IMO.

There will be ring chasers again.

I guess the point I'm trying to make is while the Cavs don't have an abundance of flexibility- they have most of their key components locked up. They can manage their lack of flexibility.

To me the priorities have to be:
1. Sign David Griffin (GM)
2. Find a way to keep Korver
3. Add a good ring chasing vet (playoff rotation guy)
I agree with you on the Cavs' offseason priorities. I think they should keep Shumpert. He's having a down year, and I think he has been slowed by nagging injuries. With an offseason to get healthy, I have to expect he'll be back to his old self on the defensive end. He doesn't offer a lot on offense, but he shoots the open 3 well enough to stay in the game.

I also agree with you that the Cavs are unlikely to move Love--I think that's a mistake.

At his best, J.R. Smith is . . . risky. He's on the wrong side of 30 and makes enough bad decisions that I don't see him as a worthwhile piece. Frye is an effective floor spacer and he has filled that role well. But 7-8M for a 34 year old stretch 4/5 who can't defend?

Love, Frye, Korver, Irving, Jefferson, and Williams don't deliver much resistance on the defensive end. The Cavs have given those guys a lot of minutes. Williams is almost certainly gone next year. Korver can be retained through Bird rights, I believe. The rest are under contract (maybe Jefferson will retire). I expect Jefferson and Korver would see less time given their ages.

The offseason state of affairs is clear: the Cavs need some warm bodies who defend. That's going to be tough to find on the mini-MLE & vet minimums. It might be obtainable by moving Smith and/or Frye.

Greenberg says LeBron never had anyone as good as Pippen....
But Wade may well have been better than 1990-91 Pippen-
Wade 2010-11: 25.5ppg
Wade 2011-12: 22.1ppg
and Bosh was better than Horace Grant-
Bosh 2010-11: 18.7ppg 8.3rpg.
Bosh 2011-12: 18.0ppg 7.9rpg.
I think you are right about Pippen & Wade being comparable (Pippen a greater + on defense, Wade a greater + on offense; both were pluses on both ends of the court, though). Bosh was better than Grant but not quite as good as Rodman, I think. In any event, both the Lebron Heat and the Jordan Bulls were stacked teams.

Same tired argument

Maybe go to the Lebrun vs Jordan vs Kobe vs Kareem vs Duncan vs foghorn leghorn thread and quit high jacking the playoff thread.

#BrokenRecord

I was referring to Game 1 of the WCF assuming that the spurs won Game 6

True but seeing them sweep the spurs or rockets would not give me a lot of confidence the Cavs could beat them.

Wade was better than Pippen. Apples to apples you have to take Pip's four best years to match up with Wade because he only had four years with LeBron, but I won't hijack this thread. Go to the Jordan/Lebron thread!

1)Wade's 2011 vs Pippen's 1997
2)Wade's 2013 vs Pippen's 1992
3)Wade's 2012 vs Pippen's 1996
4)Wade's 2014 vs Pippen's 1991

Only because it's on TNT I will watch since this is the last night seeing Ernie and the Boys until Sunday if it's a Game 7

I'm playing stuff on Steam but I might watch the halftime show and the 2nd half. Doesn't look like it's going to be anywhere near as interesting as last nights game though.

The NBA needs to somehow inject some parity into the league, probably by contracting more teams. Their playoffs are by far the least interesting of the big 4 sports since everyone knew from the first tip off of the year that it is going to be Cavs vs Warriors again.
