Boston needs Thomas to be an MVP and have some outstanding shooting efforts and maintain the effort and energy on the defensive end.
He can play all he want lebron who is mvp and best player will out do him,his size, speed, its just impossible for any team to win even against cleveland the east is weak.
I see a sweep too especially since the cavs know the warriors are rolling. Cavs are just too deep for Boston and should win in 4 games. Cavs already up by 23 points as we approach halftime and I don't see anything changing in Game 2.
Curry has been getting heavy minutes on a top 5 defense for years. He was #12 in the NBA in defensive win shares this year, and Westbrook was the only point guard ahead of him. Curry was also tied for 3rd among guards in DRtg, after Westbrook and Ginobli.
Small sample size bedamned, Curry is #2 in playoffs defensive win shares. He's also #10 in DRtg among players who've played at least 20 minutes in the playoffs, and the top point guard.
If you watch the games, you see that he is usually directing ball handlers to the help defense, and he has disruptive hands. He's not a stopper on an island, but he doesn't need to be. People who claim he can't play D aren't paying attention. Every team is beatable, no matter how good. But the Warriors are the steepest mountain in the NBA.
I think Boston is a better matchup (and a better team) than the Raptors. Boston has been very effective in the pick & roll, which the Cavs have struggled to defend. I think the Cavs will win, but it will be a good series.
I don't think it'll be close. IT4 is an awful defender, one of the worst PG's as far as defense goes. Irving makes good defenses look silly, IT4 has no chance.
And as far as Lebron goes, nobody on the Celtics can properly defend him. Bradley is the only one who has a chance, and he's too small. Horford, Olynyk and Crowder are too slow. No chance
The Celtics' only chance of preventing the sweep will be Game 2. There's no way they are winning any games in the Q if they can't even defend their own court.
Well I tuned into to watch the Celtics pick and roll (thecitythebridge) - roll all over the Cavs and all I saw was the Cavs (Lebron mainly) doing the pick n roll on the Celts. The Cavs took what they wanted.
The Celts don't shoot it well enough consistently and can't rebound well at all. I'll maintain once again- not a good matchup. The Celts tried to get into a three point fest even though the Cavs didn't shoot it well there anyway. Washington scared the hell out of me. Boston not so much.
They will have to execute flawlessly for 48 mins. on offense- I don't see it. They will make adjustments keep it closer, but I'll take Lebron in the final three minutes- Boston has nothing for him.
If Boston was smart they would trade that pick for a frontcourt stud.
Looks like they won't have to play kyrie much this series and can get him ready for golden state
