The Cavs and the Warriors look dominant in both of their Conference Finals series so far. Most likely, they end up sweeping both series, and giving all of fans what we've been waiting for: the trilogy. Now, the NBA Finals tip off on June 1st, so both teams will have at least 8 days off. Should the NBA step in and start The Finals early like they did with the Mavericks and Heat in 2011?

How can they? They sold ticket to fans based on whether or not they can attend at a certain date/time. If I had tickets for June 1 and they moved it up and I couldn't attend on the new date, I would be highly pizzed.

No, they shouldn't. Soon enough some of the guys on the Warriors will get a lot of money to go elsewhere, and possibly the same for the Cavs, or the Cavs bench players will retire or start sucking and we'll get better competition. I just don't watch regular season basketball or even most of the games from rounds 1 and 2.

How exactly did they sell tickets to fans when they can't say who's actually going to be in the finals.
If they did sell said tickets then it would be a lawsuit waiting to happen or at minimum an admission of a rigged league.

No, playoff tickets for even a game 5 are not released for sale until there is an actual need for game 5, much less the next round of playoffs.

The games will not be moved due to TV obligations. The league has dates predetermined for TV schedules.

Incorrect.

You can already buy tickets for games 5 & 7 of Warriors-Spurs (which would be played in Oakland if either/both games are necessary), as well as for all four games in Oakland for the NBA Finals (even though it's still possible the Warriors don't make it, and of course even if they do they could win or lose in less than seven games). Postseason tickets in various sports are routinely sold before the games are assured of even being played. If the games to not occur, prices are simply refunded.

They are a ticket pack sent to season ticket holders with no date on them only a game #. You are not charged for them until the next season. They come in a book, where you pull the tickets out for what ever game it may be. You can also request digital/flash type seats in this nature. The season ticket holders have first rights to the seats and are selling them in advance. It is up to them to reimburse the buy if need be, not the team/league.

(I have had season tickets to both the rockets and Spurs and this has been the case every time.)

Or they can use those tickets for the next series.

Yes. Every series should start two days after the conclusion of the last clinching team's previous series.

Tickets for the playoffs go on sale as soon as they know who is in them. Season ticket holders get a shot at the playoffs as early as the start of the season, but additional sales are announced to the public when the team clinches. As Unsettomati said, if the game is not needed, the tickets are refunded.
