might as well start a thread since things are starting to get going.
just announced, pau gasol declined his 16.2 mil player option with the spurs.
will work with spurs to sign a longer deal for much less to give some cap flexibility.
spurs are still rumored to be in the running to sign chris paul. pau restructuring his deal opens up ALMOST enough cap room to offer paul a solid, near max deal.
i still dont think paul leaves LA, but there is a lot of talk, similar to the talk when aldridge signed with the spurs. also spurs dont generally get put in those rumors unless there is legit credence to them.
david lee opted out of his option too.
not sure he resigns though.
I might be giving my Lakers too much credit here, but I'm assuming they talked to Indy already about including the Lakers' #28 pick in the deal and Indy said "that's not enough, get us another pick", and so the Lakers went out and got #27 as well.
So #27, #28, and Randle/Clarkson for PG13 is what they're probably trying to settle on somehow. Now that they got rid of Moz, there isn't a dire need to get rid of the Deng contract. To me, Deng can still be a serviceable back-up small forward.
Charlotte won that trade for sure, i don't care what you say about Dwight Howard but he's still a top 10 center in the league, maybe even top 5 if you give him more playing time.
I find it funny they want to ship him after everything that happened with him and the mavs.
