I can't wait for the new basketball season to start, it's definitely exciting to start hearing about the new season. I don't put too much value in pre season rankings but the North Carolina Tar Heels are ranked #1, I sure hope they can go all the way this year. Let the games begin.

And Now, I have to respond to a post from a previous thread. In a previous thread which has been closed, some Dukie wrote this:

Quick to crown..... Makes me think of the phrase...."And that's why they play the game".. I seem to remember last year, there were similar statements about the Great Duke University.... "No chance against unc-ch".. I do believe Duke pulled that victory off in Chapel Hill... Loved that Kansas game too...

My response is:

You're correct, Duke did beat us in Chapel Hill, but we returned the favor at your gymnasium on senior night I believe. You failed to mention that, very convenient. You may have enjoyed the Kansas game, but I bet I enjoyed the Clemson game in the ACC tournament and the West Virgina game even more. Atleast we did make it to Final Four and didn't almost lose to Belmont just to get knocked out in the next round for the 2nd year in a row. Don't even get me started on the VCU game from 2006-2007 season. See you on Feb. 11th!

Lets just hope the Tar Heels don't choke and get absolutley destroyed in the 1st half of a NCAA tourney game again.

I can't see anyone else but the Tar Heels winning the NC with the team they have back this year.

I think Davidson could make a good run again this season. Don't be surprised if they do.

When was the last time the 'Heels got "destroyed" in the NCAA tournament? They got destoryed last year in the Final Four and the previous year in the Elite 8, that's not bad. I can't wait till the season starts, I"m excited to see what the new kid from IN, Zeller, is gonna do.

I agree! Davidson was one of the funnest teams to watch last year, they should be as good if not better this year.

Yeah, but not early in the tournament, they did make it far before getting destroyed. I am not going to argue with you on your point though, you're correct, they did get destroyed against Kansas and the previous year against Georgetown, both of which where disappointing. But my point was that it was deep in the tournament.

I'm still having a hard time understanding how the Heels, coached by Roy Williams going up against his former school in the Final Four, could look so flat and unprepared.

On paper they're an obvious No. 1 and worst-case scenario would probably have them ending up with a No. 2 or 3 seed in the Dance (and this is if they hit some uncharacteristic slump during ACC season) but one bad night in March can bring it all down no matter what happens.

Oh yup fair enough. I'm looking forward to the Tar Heels coming into Reno, Nevada on new years eve I think it is. A inexperienced Wolfpack team with a few good recruits. Should be a goodie.
