We are moving to BR by the end of this month and would like an apt that's safe, quiet, washer/dryer in unit. Our price range for a 2 bedroom is $1200, within reasonable commute (an hour in bumper to bumper traffic is not reasonable) to LSU.

We're coming down to BR from Indiana next week. What are places we can see/should avoid when we are not apartment hunting?

We've shortlisted a few apartments that we are interested in

Bocage Area
Gates at Citiplace
Maison Bocage

Perkins/Essen/Bluebonnet/Nicholson Areas
Indigo Park
Turnberry Place
Park at Bluebonnet
Cobblestone at Essen
Citiscape at Essen

Coursey/TigerBend Area (Like the area since its recommended by many here on the forum but worried about commute)
Bristol Place
Live Oaks
Ivy Park
Evergreen at Coursey Place
Longridge
Canterbury House

Millerville/O'Neal Lane
Lakeside Villas
Camden Lake

Citiscape at essen is your best bet. I stay there now. full of nurses. Free internet, cable and phone. Pet friendly and nice staff. Other tenants seem to be mid to late 20's and up. Good crowd. On site community officer, gated, 2 br runs about $1100 but I was able to get a 2 br for $940.00. Month to month, 6 months, and a year contract. CON??? Ceilings and walls are thin.

Do not even try Cobblestone. Lived there and place is still stuck in the 80's. Old appliances, no free cable, internet, or phone. IF you are looking for a 2 br with "1" bathroom. Then this is the place.

Friends have reported poor upkeep and unresponsive management at Park on Bluebonnet and at Maison Bocage. Another friend is at Camden Lake and only complains about traffic noises.

The area around LSU is not good, by anyone's standards.

Lower your standards and lock your doors.
