I have a job offer in the Corporate Blvd area, and I know nothing about Baton Rouge. What zip codes in the BR area are considered safe areas in which to live? I have been looking for a house online, and there are way too many zip codes for me to pin down the areas. Additional info: We need a back yard for a dog. Schools are not an issue right now except for resale. We would consider a patio home if the yard could be fenced. Looking for something in the $100,000 to $200,000 range because we'll probably have to move there before we can sell the house we're living in. A realtor recently had me looking in the 70817 area and nowhere else. Also, is the Garden District safe? Is the City Park area part of the Garden District? Thanks for any help!!

Capital Heights neighborhood, Old Goodwood, Garden district, would all be old neighborhoods near Corporate that have cute, mainly restored houses from the 30's-60's. They are really all great neighborhoods and I'd love in a

Southdowns is close too, but I think would be more expensive than the others.

Capital heights has a walking path which is so great to have right outside your front door.

Don't go farther NORTH and Government Street, and you should be OK.

Schools won't be a consideration in ANY BR neighborhood, as the schools are so bad that everyone goes to private schools.

There are brand new apartments/condos RIGHT on corporate, but they have no yard. Right by Town Center but I forgot the name.

Here is a good place to start: FSBO Baton Rouge (http://www.fsbobr.com/findahouse.cfm - broken link) or the CJ BROWN realtor website has the best search engine for BR homes.
