I travel often and end up spending an extra $100 each time just parking my car at the airport. I think I'd like to try taking a cab (against the advice of many) to and from my home to the airport in a few weeks. Can anyone on here recommend a safe, reputable, prompt, affordable cab company around here?

I really don't have much experience with cabs but have taken a few rides. The important thing is line the ride up about a day ahead of time, otherwise you'll have quite a wait after you call. Yellow cab is the big service here in town. And I think there's an airport service... Mackie's or something like that.

Yellow Cab is pretty good. Just call the day before.

Is it hard to get a cab promptly in the Bluebonnet/Essen area of Baton Rouge? I'll be staying at a hotel for two days and will only need to travel nearby to get food and to a clinic. Should I rent a car? I'm a female traveling alone if that makes a difference.

Parasol, if you're staying near the interstate, there should be all the food you need within walking distance. Just wanted to let you know, as those darn cab rides are expensive, and they don't like to come out just for a few dollar fare anyway.
