I have lived here a little over a year now. I live out in Livingston Parish which i really enjoy. I work in Baton Rouge so i have a little bit of a commute. I have a question for any long time residents of this State.
Why do people not use their blinkers in the car?
Why do people throw garbage out of their car along the road?
OK. i feel better now

Here in Lafayette, we have a number to call if we see this. Not enough signs to promote it, but I saved it on my cell phone as "Litterer".

I simply cannot relate to those who do this.

Yourlittlered: It is well known in Louisiana that if you use your blinkers too much you can wear them out and have to buy new ones.

lol. People around here do seem to believe this.

It boggles my mind that people throw so much garbage all over the place. Is it really that hard to hang on to your McDonald's bag until you get to a trash can?? What really bugs me is that I know I want my surroundings to look as nice as possible. There is no way I would litter the city I have to live in!

I feel the same way about people who have all kinds of junk sitting on their porch/in their yard. You have to live there! Yeesh. It's like watching those shows about hoarders. I just don't understand how people can live like that...

I fuss all the time about people not useing blinkers(are they stupid?,Preocupied with phone, radio, catching a nap or just what)Tinkkles Me off.And littering There are the ones that just indiscriminatly(sp)throw paper bags and drink cups and who knows what else out the window, then we have a group of people that like to kill themselves by smoking in the car but yet they can't stand the nasty smell of the cigerate(sp) in the ash tray so out the window it goes when the are threw sucking on it. I feel better now also.

It's because People are just down right INCONSIDERATE in Baton Rouge... They will never change! They wont let you into a lane, they cut you off (without a blinker) to get in to your lane, they ride in the fast lane, and they ride their brakes cuz they tailgate! Sorry, had to vent!

I live in Hammond and work in Baton Rouge, and I commute.

It's not just Louisiana. I live in another southern state where some people seem to think the roadways are their own personal garbage dumps. Very irritating and frustrating.

The problem is that anti-littering laws are practically unenforceable. People just whiz along and toss the stuff from the windows. And other motorists might not find it easy to take down license numbers and report them to the police (who would probably not do anything anyway; the burden of proof is just too difficult and troublesome, and they have more serious problems to deal with).

I think unless some brazen act of littering is performed right in front of a law officer, nobody is going to get caught. Having observed that, I don't feel better.

But it is nice to know that there are other folks who hate this as much as I do.

I think people who litter are ignorant. There is no other way to explain it. A lack of pride in their own planet. Unfreakinbelievable!

Unstupidify them is the only solution. Assclownitude doesn't come off with soap so it usually takes a generation.

It is worth the effort.

Just say neaux to being a dumbass litterbug.
Until society treats it that way... they'll get away with it.

Fines are a great start. Pictures in the paper would be another public service. Shame them into not being so dumb.
It'll take something like that to change the litterbug portion of society. More clearly needs to be done... if LA roadsides are a barometer.

Don't get me started on drivers. I find it embarassing to the human race how badly some folks drive.

I know I sound like a broken record the way I always defend Baton Rouge...but honestly litterbugs know no boundaries. I've been to many a filthy city.

What kills me is all the texting and driving.
