Anyone know the current Baton Rouge demographics and growth trends/projections?

With the post-Katrina influx of New Orleans residents, I've read that a "city official" was sure that the majority of those moving in are black. Prior to Katrina, Baton Rouge was experiencing "white flight" .... which I can only assume continued, if not at a faster rate, after a large influx of black New Orleans residents.

Has post-Katrina Baton Rouge seen a larger and faster shift to the black majority? Do the projections indicate that this will further promote "white flight," turning Baton Rouge into a largely black city? Or with the current economic growth of Baton Rouge, does it seem as though the "white flight" trend is coming to an end?

opinions are great, but please provide sources if you have statistics. I'm currently trying to find them on my own and am searching.

There has not been as large an influx of post-Katrina residents to Baton Rouge as many believe. On July 1, 2005, the census estimated population for East Baton Rouge Parish was 409,809. On July 1, 2006, the estimate was 429,073. Most of the people who left New Orleans after Katrina either settled elsewhere in the NOLA metro area, or they just left the state.

I agree with this person. i do not believe that there are more blacks here now. I think that there are more rude people though! I think Baton Rouge is a great town! I think a lot of people who left New Orleans moved to Houston and Atlanta as they have the facilities for the poor and homeless type people. Baton Rouge does not have a lot of the big city neccessities the poorer people live on.
