If this merger goes as planned SUNO goes into UNO who would leave the LSU system to fall under the UL system. I would assume the funding would go to UNO or the UL system. Word on the street and popular opinion fear that the money will actually be diverted to LSU to go into MCLNO's replacement that the state is adamant on building although they have no way to pay for it. Who knows really. Either way if it goes through, N.O.'s distrust of B.R. will increase and life will go on.

I did see plans for rennovations and/or new buildings at SUBR that were impressive though. What development is planned for the northside of BR?

Funny thing is, I plan on attending UNO soon and living on the lakefront. I'm sure UNO can be saved but I think SUNO is a lost cause. 5% graduation rate and people saying it will destroy a HBCU, the main campus is in BR, it was moved there a LONG time ago plus SU needs the funding. LSU doesn't need any of the funds since it can't control it's own school.
If you look in the FuturEBR 2011 plan it shows some pipe dreams but nothing really concrete.

Let me guess, Urban studies? Contemplated it myself.
I agree, but LSU gets what LSU wants. At least around here it does. On that note UNO should definitely be saved since it is the only serious public university in the state's largest city, but they've been LSU's red headed step-child since the beginning. When it first came up someone in the from the Jindal admin. actually suggested that those seeking a good public education go to B.R. as if the majority of the students in the city (who can't afford to shell out $40,000 a year to go to the remaining city schools, by the way) will be able to just uproot and move upriver.

I was on the www.futurEBR.com website, but I can't find anything specifically related to the north. Know where I can find anything else?

Yes, urban studies, the only thing I can see myself waking up for. LSU does get what it wants, countless times in the past and it won't stop. A city the size of New Orleans needs at least a couple public 4-year universities and they are threatening the ones there. Consolidate and improve should be on the minds of SU(NO) and LSU(UNO).

Look through that.
